Sound Blaster X-Fi Titanium Fatal1ty Sound Card
« on: Thu, 23 February 2012, 14:28:04 »
Asking [strike]$90[/strike] $80 + $6.99 for shipping.

Card is still in excellent condition and works flawlessly.

This is the exact card I am selling.

Feel free to post or message any questions.

Interested, out of curiousity, why are you getting rid of it?

Did you notice a huge difference between using audio with the card and without it?

I have a similar card - an auzentech prelude - moving the DAC off the motherboard makes a pretty big difference. You'll notice it most with a headphone amp and good headphones, not as much with a typical desktop speaker kit.

I just passed on the xfi after reading up on game audio, at overclock.net I think. The author indicated that xfi and EAC are terrible for staging and that super fidelity stereo is the way to go. I ended up getting a Corsair USB headset. I'm not really hearing a huge difference on COD2. We'll see how it fares in BF3.  I'm no expert, but I can tell that what I'm hearing is not helping my gameplay, and that better audio would.
Welcome to geekhack -- where we like to type -- but don't care so much about reading.

For music, it's not a HUGE difference, but it's significant and I definitely notice it. For games there is a hugggeee difference. The simulated surround sound with a decent pair of headphones is amazing. You can easily hear footsteps and what direction people are coming from. Of course it depends how good your motherboards onboard audio is.

I actually had a Logitech G35 before I had my sound card and returned it. I just didn't like the way it processed sound. It sounded too artificial and just weak.
