I hate the styling from the Black widow. Nothing subtle about that board. Thats why I didn't get it ^^
It looks cheap to me. As is the pricing :$ There is bound to be some quality issues with it...

I had one. It failed in less two weeks of use, and I took it to store and got my money back.

Mine worked just fine. I've had it since it first came out with no problems. It might be a little cheaper quality compared to the other keyboards (keycaps, stabilizers) but it's not bad if it works.

I've owned a few boards (Filco, Model M, Unicomp, etc.) and in my experience the Blackwidow has been reliable. Well, it hasn't failed since I bought it 3 1/2 months ago anyway. Although it's not my main board, it's used by others here on a daily basis, and no one's complained yet. Personally, I'm not partial to the shiny finish, but if you like heavy keyboards, you're in luck. It weighs a ton.

Had one but ended up returning it for a better mech.... Eventhough I kept the firmware updated, the key commands would sometimes get stuck... Find myself strafing left without any keys being pressed.  Happened more times that I cared for.  Plus only having 2-KRO for something like this is pretty lacking.  Moved on, couldn't be happier.

I've had mine for about a year and a half now, it isn't the best quality, but it hasn't broken (totally) yet.

I had to fix the spacebar, the right side stabilizer popped out of the key stem, made the switch really rocky and eventually the stabilizer worked it's way under the m and n keys, causing sticking. I fixed it by shooting some epoxy into the stem and sticking the stabilizer in. I haven't had an issue with it yet.

The software is crap, it won't remember the settings, and each time I reboot I have to re-select what profile I want (even when it is set up to be program specific).

The glossy surface sucks, so I used plasti-dip on it, not the best solution, but it was cheap and has held up reasonably well so far.

The Blackwidow at least got me into mechanical keyboards, so I can thank it for that :D

Just go for a tenkeyless boards. There are a lot of other choices out there now for reasonable prices. It's always a hit or miss with Razer products.

I had one for about two weeks until fear of the thing bricking on me made me return it to Best Buy. I never did encounter any real problems with it, but I really disliked the texture the keys had.

Bought a Quickfire Rapid with blues and haven't thought about it since.

A bwu was my first board. I had no problems with using it. The glossy plastic is a mistake. I also didn't like paying $130 for a board that was 2 kro.

Both of these issues have been fixed in the stealth edition. It is matte finish with 6kro. All of the special edition versions are still using the original board and programming. They must be working through the production commitment.

I hope the stealth edition improvements come to the rest of the line soon.

You can't buy the stealth from retail or distributor, only via their web store. This makes sales to Canada pretty rediculous with their inflated shipping.

Works just fine as a keyboard. Feels very mechanical as it uses blues. The greatest part of it is that it has the non-backlighted version which is offered at a cheap price point and therefore making it a good first timer keyboard for those tight on budget.

But when compared to other keyboards it just can't stand up well. The poor quality makes it look overpriced since you're paying almost the same for a different brand of keyboard but you're getting lower quality. The best buy is the non back lighted edition since you can't really compare it side by side with a lot of keyboards in the same price point...... then again.... the cmstorm qfr came out and kicked that guys ass ass well.

I returned two. The first the entire board was about an inch off, it wobbled uncontrollably. The 2nd the spacebar was molded incorrectly and was "twisted" any time I hit it, the stabilizer bar popped out and it flew off. I returned both to best buy (or worst buy, in this situation lul)
I hate everything.

I got it, It didn't work. Got a replacement, used it for 2 weeks then bought a Leopold FC200R instead.

Dislikes:
- Thick unnecessary cord (reason for it not working on the first board)
- Gloss finish (dirty as soon as you pull it out of the box)
- Keys get stuck on each other if you're pressing them down on an angle. (pressing ctrl sometimes pressed shift as well)
- It's Razer lol. A company that strives on "GAMING" branding and gimmicks.

Likes:
- It was my first mechanical KB. Never turning back.

i don't like how the design is so IN YOUR FACE. blackwidow's style makes me feel like it would belong to a middle school boy. it's like OO SHINY and LOOK BRIGHT OBNOXIOUS GREEN and LOOK ITS NAMED AFTER A COOL ARACHNID and WE ARE SO COOL OUR LOGO HAS COOL SNAKES ON IT.

guess it's just my taste though.
but i'm for more toned down products.

You guys are still pretty lucky

RAZER raped me up the asssssss......................

Keycaps were of so poor quality, that the entire top row `1234567890-= had a horrendous grinding feel upon keypress.

These questions of taste, of feeling, of inheritance, need no settlement. Everyone carries his own inch-rule of taste, and amuses himself by applying it, triumphantly, wherever he travels.

Hmm. The quote states that we shouldn't seek to agree on subjective matters because each subjective position is reliant on varying interpretations and values. This means that opinions pertain and relate solely to the possessor of the opinion. Not really sure how this quote relates as I am not arguing or debating with another person's perspective and am just answering OP's question of my experience with the Blackwidow.
I am amusing myself with my own opinion though. tralala~
