« on: Wed, 21 March 2012, 16:09:57 »
Dont know much about mech keyboards but im buying a filco ninja majestouch 2 ten keyless. mostly use for gaming/casual typing. i believe this one comes with black switches. what are your guys thoughts about this? or should i look at a different mech keyboard. also ive seen many cool keycaps, wondering where i can find some. http://www.amazon.com/Filco-Majestouch-2-Tenkeyless-FKBN87ML-EFB2/dp/B0050ODQEI/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1332364157&sr=8-1 this is the keyboard. thanks.

Another new yorker! Welcome to GH!

You can't go wrong with Filcos, but apparently the blacks on Filcos are stiffer than the blacks on other keyboards. I've never used a black myself so I can't confirm if this is true or not.

I'm am really against blacks // reds as gaming switches,,, because they have no tactile response, and they make no sound until you hit the bottom,, it is difficult to hit confirm,, However,, this is not an issue if you don't play any games that require key precision.

Thanks but I'm worried that with use the keys might fade that's why I was going to go with the ninja. Can anyone tell me if filcos don't fade? Also where can I get some cool keycaps?

Doesn't matter you will probably want to replace all the keys in a month anyways lol

Any key fades if you grind on them hard enough.

The beauty about these mech boards is that you can replace the caps once they are worn out. I wouldn't worry about it.

i agree with the disease statement.  since joining this website I have participated in a GB, bought some other random keycaps, ordered a Leopold TKL brown, orings, and there is more to come.  My wallet sure hates me.

Ping is like a echo, springy or resonance sound coming from the switch and amplified by the steel plate. So far video or audio manage to record down it clearly...
