They sure look amazing, but how can I justify dropping $1k+ on a keyboard to my girlfriend?

Wow, that looks a bit too tacky for my taste, but then again most of the whole steam punk trends do.

Anyway, they don't seem to indicate how their switches work.

I think some of them look great, like the deco ones. Can't see how they could be classed as tacky when there are keyboard like the Razer out there! Think they are based on a IBM model M. Really expensive though, $300-400 for the kit, then you need the donor keyboard and the keytops.

I remember the collective weeping when an M15 was used for one of the projects.

Oh come on, I'm not saying that Razer keyboards aren't tacky, but I just can't get into the whole, steampunk thing. Seems really weird to me.

Still don't think they're tacky, eccentric yes and a whole lot of people would think people on here are weird, modifying keyboards (or even discussing them!).

Whether you like them or not you can't argue that there's a whole lot of skill goes in to making the stuff. I was thinking a time back that steampunk would suit the Raspberry Pi, but metalwork isn't something I'm familiar with.
