Need Information Regarding This Keyboard.
« on: Wed, 28 March 2012, 21:27:47 »
Hi,

I need information regarding Focus Electronics Keyboard fk 6200

This was my first keyboard and I have attachment to it. I left it home when i left for overseas. I know that it uses click tactile.

I have following quetions

  • What kind of switches does it use. I am sure it doesn't use cherry blue switches. Probably Alps?

  • Also I can't seem to find  a new one. I am looking for either a new or  something similar to it, but best of it's kind  in current keyboards ( meaning keyboard available in market which are new but give similiar experience)?

  • Lastly where can  buy I a new one or keyboard with similar experience.

Your response will be appreciated.

Thanks for your time and help.

Hi,

Thanks for your reply. I just either want to buy that keyboard or need information about a new one which behaves similarly to that one. You can accuse of shilling  or what ever. I am trying to find answer for myself. That keyboard is probably 14 years old or something. I found used ones on ebay but not a new one. Also i have been searching on the detailed spec of that keyboard i.e. whether it uses alps or other switches and if there's a keyboard in the market which gives similar experience to Focus Electronics Keyboard fk 6200.

So I did ask there, but got no response from the guy claiming to sell it etc, since folks here are more knowledgeable, so I came here to ask and find out about my query. So you didn't see me posting any spam links or something right. I just need answers to my questions, that's all.

Hope it clarifies your doubts.
Thanks

No worries. I have sentimental attachment to that keyboard, otherwise i wouldn't be spending so much time on researching it. Thanks for the wiki link. BTW i already went through it. The wiki doesn't mention what kind of switches it uses i.e. ALPS or Cherry MX. So my 3 questions are still hanging/are unanswered.

I do appreciate your help and time though. Hope i get my questions answered.
Thanks

?  It even gives the Patent IDs.  It's in alphabetical order. FOCUS.

Sorry, I don't get it what do you mean by It's in alphabetical order?

Also the patent info in USPTO doesn't give full information. How can i get full info from their site?

I got the PDF from google search but still it doesn't explain what types of switches it uses.

So again my 3 simple questions are unanswered.

Thanks

It's cherry

Look at the window placements where the caplock and scroll locks are for the LEDs,, clearly a cherry switch board

Except for t(roll)p4tissue, the info is pretty much right. This board has both rubba dome and ALPS variants. ALPS version probably has simplified tactile clicky for most switches, simplified linear for the LED'd ones.

Got it yet??????

Click the link.
Read it.
THEN ask questions.

For Buddha helps all, but expects disciples to come to him halfway.

Namaste.

No I still didn't get it. Ripster, thanks for your time and reply no offense but you talk in gibberish and don't give clear answers. You just give link or a picture which a newbie don't understand.

Answer in plain english would be good :).

I am new to internals of keyboard and can't tell about which is alps and which is cherry brown or black etc.

I did find this manual to be more detailed for any newbie.

Don't know why it's so hard to get answered to 3 simple questions :(.

Please help.
Thanks
