To be perfectly honest, I would consider a CM Storm if you want a filco. They are basically the same board. Also, the CM Storm has a detachable USB cable, and cable routing.

I didn't think much of it until I bought one recently, and it is worth every penny, and about $60 less than the Filco. It is really well built. No board flex at all.

Just my 2 cents.

i haz to haz filco, i herd they are l33t!

.... Would you say the build quality is the same? I'm looking for a TKL that I can invest into: I've read into the issue, and I know that they are both manufactured by the Costar, and that the internals are pretty much identical, it seems the only difference is the detachable USB cable with routing options, rubbered feet, and  the external case.

What i'm most concerned about is the external case that protects the keyboard... What is the CM Quickfire outer casing like? Is it something is comparable to the quality of Filco?

Biggest difference is going to be looks.  I'd expect quality to be about the same.

Some prefer detachable USB, some don't.  And for some the looks are no big deal.

For $80 it's probably the best deal around though.  I just can't stand the keycaps myself...

I have owned both, and basically the CM Storm has the features of a Leopold (Detachable usb, wire routing) with the case of a Filco (nice sharp edges, strong case). The casing is the same quality as a Filco. The board is really solid, and feels great. I can't say enough times what an amazing deal it is. If you plan on dropping some PBT keycaps on it, you will definitely be able to with the money you are saving. I grabbed some black engraved PBT from Feng for $54 and looks great on the cm storm.
