If the PCB was already preassembled then yes the firmware has already been flashed and should be preprogrammed.

By preassembled do you mean also with switches on it?  Or just that the PCB itself was assembled?

What material is the 40% plate?? I need me a 40%.

I believe it's acrylic, but I am not 100% sure on that.

Didn't get this in the mail as I'd preordered it and it has been made available today. Went to the shop to personally take mine...

Needs more 1.5x caps. Also, I've wondered why no one has attempted to put the numbers on the left hand side and the F keys on the top row.

huh. i guess you could do that. i think i use the numbers more than the F keys though, so for me it makes sense to have them more accessible.

That is my thinking with them. To me, more accessible means having them closer together. This is the reason number pads are prevalent at all. Thus, having two rows of numbers side by side would be more efficient than having one very long row.

How thick is it? And what type of stabs will you be using with it?

So I just received this baby today and ;oaijw;oigj;awoijgawoiejgaweogj it feels good! I always wondered why so many just convert to Topre and I think I can now slightly understand why many do... it just feel so damn butter. Is it better than Cherry switches? I wouldn't say that just yet as I still believe they just feel "different," BUT there's no denying that Topre switches feel amazing. The tactile bump right at the top is so sudden and immediate but at the same time it's also feels very gradual because you can feel the entire thing even though it's happening so fast. Anyhow, enough of my crappy explanation of how it feels, and here are some pictures!

Sorry for the dark pictures but it's a gloomy day in Gainesville today :P I also flipped the spacebar (it doesn't look as nice but it feels so natural!) and added a Red ESC key!

I would never! :)) but yeah, I'll definitely have to type it out on this bad boy for a bit. However, another thing is that I'm really enjoying this compact layout. This is my first keyboard smaller than standard TKL.

Got a few TKL keyboard cases.

two Grey and two black

33270-0

inside view. You can see the flap that lays on top of the keyboard

33272-1

a closeup of the flap

33274-2

KMAC II all loaded and ready to roll

33276-3

Can't forget the USB cable

33278-4

The build quality on these is exceptional. The flap is sewn in and attached very well. The zipper is very heavy duty. Also, they are almost like a box, in the sense that the protective outside is pretty rigid yet the cloth inside feels like felt.

LOL when I saw this scrolling into view in the bottom of my web browser, my first thought was that Leopold had made a blue one!

Congratulations - and your description of the initial Topre bump is very accurate.  I've been trying to think of a way of describing it for a while.
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

Hi Demik,

Looks very nice... any chance you could post a pic of the backside of the PCB? I have a KBD on the way that will require assembly and I'm debating whether or not to do it myself or send it out...

Cheers & Congrats,

K

Got this from a GH member here, to replace the crap discolored space bar I'd gotten with the Trigger Green....again, not exactly in the mail as I'd had to meet up with the seller. Nice and polite young fella....

Some very well packaged keycaps from flynn:

Specifically Caps Lock, left Shift and space bar:

Allowing me to bring one of my Model M to completion:

Thanks flynn!! :)
