typing games
« on: Tue, 11 September 2012, 10:21:33 »
I am not sure if there is anywhere a thread about this.

But, which typing games are the best out there in the web?

I play Z-type from time to time. typeracer is another one that people always seem to mention, and it is fun to play against real people to improve typing speeds too.

My favorite offline typing game is typing of the dead.

But remember, typing of the dead will not make you type faster because it doesn't require you to type spaces.

You can type the space anyway, and it won't mark it wrong, but you'll get your ass handed to you by the boss in hard mode.

Get TOTD2, it is a lot better. There are some more modes and it's a little harder. Also the graphics and sounds are better since it was based of HOTD3. Only downside is it's a bit harder to find it as it was only released officially in Japan for Windows.

I only use Typeracer. Ztype was intriguing, but I had issues with the stupid font.

Wtf? have you played TOTD2?   If you're not japanese or have extensive japanese language experience, there's just no way you can even beat a single level.

I have the game, it's unplayable, no way i can type fast enough syllable by syllable.

Which is why I say it is harder. What do I care if the game want me to type apple or ringo? If there was not latin charachters too, yes it would be unplayable to me. There is also some registry setting that change some portions to English if you go and change it.

Interested.. Please elaborate on how to do this.

I don't have it installed for awhile, so forgive me if I don't remember 100%, but it was either under HKCU or HKLM and find the game entry under software/sega, and there will be a region setting that will be JP, change it to EN. But, instead or Romanji you end up with gibberish mostly. Though it fixes some of the menus and stuff so you know what option you are selecting.

Yeah I just tried ztype for the first time too, it's awesome.. but my dip was way worse. I average about 100 and I was down to 60. You really get punished for inaccuracy in that game since you have to seek out which word you're unexpectedly starting to type.

What always got me were the targets that shoot out single letters in every direction if you don't shoot fast enough! The letters were so distracting  :))

I have reached level 22 on expert mode, on my best run.

You have to kill the mothership and the battleships first. because they spawn a **** ton of crap.

Because the mothership later on in the game will spawn letters that overlap with the other words, so when you go to kill the closer ships the mother ship pwns you.
