Is the corsair vengeance k90 pcb mounted
« on: Fri, 14 September 2012, 22:34:22 »
I was thinking of modding the vengeance k90 over to ergo clear switches but I dont know if the k90 is pcb-mounted (non-plate mounted right?). Oh and as a side note is anyone selling cherry mx clear stems cheap or know where to buy them.

No, you tell the difference by checking close up pics and knowing how a keyboard is put together (see my avi pic).

Well the K90 is actually a completely unusable keyboard due to the random key sticking issue.

So I'd just toss that thing in the garbage, or call up corsair for a refund, because they still have not fixed this horrific issue after 6 months.

Why would you spend the hours soldering up a keyboard that has random sticking keys.

I believe this keyboard was also produced by iONE.. Fvck Ione.

I agree the design is great, except the keyboard doesn't WORK as a keyboard.

You type space, let go, the blinker keeps going until you press space again several times before it stops.

You type backspace, let go, the blinker deletes half your page..

You hit W to turn in Need for Speed, It crashes you into a wall. and you can't change directions until you hit W several times to stop the gas pedal..

That is the reality of the K90 and the K60.

It is a total bum board.

If not for this stuck key "feature" ,, I would be behind it 100%

This happens on EVERY K60 and K90, it is not an isolate incident, it is design bug that existed since day one of release. Corsair promised to fix for the past 6 month. GUESS WHAT,

STILL NOT FIXED..  :)) :)) :)) :)) :))

You talk about this in a lot of threads but I've never had a problem and one of the forums you quote shows Corsair offering to replace the defaulty keyboard (Which was a K60 I believe).

While I do not doubt it happened to you, to tell everyone constantly the keyboard is useless is misleading. While I am very sorry for your bad experience, based on the hundreds of reviews I've read while researching it and my own experience, I feel you are blowing it out of proportion.

LOL, you know what you are, either a liar, or you don't use the computer enough to have it occur.

go into MS word, and start pressing down lots of keys at the same time, just mash the main black,

Very soon you'll see some strange sticking happen.. the more obvious ones are shift, backspace, space, and enter, but it can happen on any key.

Yup this is a problem with every single K90 and K60

Corsair should honestly do a recall, seriously, it is quite irresponsible of them to release a product that like this.

I'm not the one you addressed but I did as you suggested and nothing happened. For reference, I use my computer and K90 on a daily basis and type quite a lot during said usage.

Again, this happens on EVERY single board. it goes unreported, because at time the effect can be subtle.

for example, say the S starts to repeat, but you typed s twice like in the word hiss.. then the repeat might be canceled.

The repeat happens more with space bar, shift and backspace, so.. in many cases most people hit backspace more than once, along with shift and space bar.

This would also cancel the repeat..

This is a well documented problem... If you guys choose to remain blind to it, i suppose relative to your ignorance, the problem is indeed fixed.

so, happy keyboarding.

Wow, seriously? You've used every K90 ever made or spoke with every owner of every K90 ever made?

Take a look at the Amazon reviews, some people have indeed noted the problem you comment on but on average the reviews are great. If EVERY keyboard had this problem, I doubt multiple sites would have good reviews for it. Once again, I am not saying it isn't a problem, but it is not with EVERY keyboard, or it seems, even a majority.

Amazon for example allows you to edit reviews, so even if someone left a good review before this glitch happened to them, they would be able to go back and be as pissed as you.

Anyway, this is totally off topic and I doubt anything will change your mind. Sorry you had a bad experience and that you are out for Corsair's blood.

Ok the first time I bought this keyboard, sure, could've been just a bad board, but it occured a second time when I bought the board.

Not only that , the problem is still an issue to this day, as reported DAILY on the corsair support forum.

It has NOT been fixed.

Hm, I'd forgotten that Esc, the F keys and the cluster above the arrows are all dome switches ... WTF?

Maybe if it's successful though it will pave the way for more metal. Apple have gone all metal now, and this open mounting would be a simpler way for Matias to work sheet metal into their designs to match Apple's sheet metal keyboards.

I presume that the volume wheel transmits vol+/vol– keystrokes? The ridiculous global wave level got old quickly but so long as the keyboard just sends normal keystrokes you can bind this into (for example) Winamp so that you don't change the whole system volume.
