cherry stabilizers question
« on: Fri, 28 September 2012, 13:54:15 »
Hi,

I have a 6G V2. I have a question about the sabilizers. Maybe it's stupid, but... :)

As you can see in the pictures, the switch is normal, always up. But the two little switches on the side are always down. Aren't they supposed to be up and work like a spring?
They are like this in all the big keys.

Thanks!

They are connected to a torsion bar.  Force on the left is transferred across the bar to the right and vice versa.  There is no spring acting on the stabilizer to push it up.  That is what the switch does.

You can add your own springs though if you wanna.

They actually are up. When the keycaps is put on, the keyswitch is depressed, pretty even with the stabilizers, so when you release the keycap after first putting it on, everything is good to go.

Alaric is right about the method of stabilization, though.
