Filco stabilized keys noise
« on: Sun, 20 January 2013, 09:38:21 »
ALL of the stabilized keys in my filco have a nervewrecking rattle to them. This drives me insane, because not even o-rings can help.  This noise,is so loud and just sounds and feels cheap. Is this a general costar-related problem? Is there any way to get rid of it?
I hope i'm not the only one who finds this unacceptable...

Tiny dab of grease on the white piece gets rid of it.

Costar-style stabilizers generally need some type of lubricant applied to them to prevent the rattle. This is usually not applied at the factory because there's no way to determine how long a given board's shelf life will be, and the lubricant dries out over time.

I spent $5 on Amazon for some white Lithium grease about 2 years ago, and just applied it to the places where the stabilizer bar meets the clips on the plate and the white inserts in the keycaps themselves. Handles the rattle and makes those keys feel just as solid as the rest of the board.

get the lower viscosity lithium lube, otherwise it'll be "sticky",
