Buying - HHKB Lite 2 (White) or even (White) Mac version?

Looking for the cheapest price on an HHKB Lite 2 (White) shipping included (in the US) and some kind of return policy (new or used).
Found it on Amazon from a seller in Texas for $90 (shipping included). Trying to find out the return policy on it... as I write.

Another question will the Mac version be very different (do the ALT/Win keys work the same) on my PC? Drawbacks?
If you guys know of a better deal or place to get it in the US (besides EBay), let me know!

Topre in general is a bit of a rip-off...

HHKB even more so because it has less, but costs more because women and girly men think they're "cute"

By all accounts the HHKB Lite is not really worth having (at least, at retail price).  It's just a really expensive vanilla rubber dome.

For sure some rubber domes have a more satisfying feel than others but they're still domes.

Guess what?  Not everyone loves Topre, Cherry, O-Rings, Buckling Springs, Space Invaders, Alps, etc, etc, etc, etc.

Why can't people be happy with rubber domes if they like them?  It's like half of you are trying to take the gay out of a gay person.

Um yeah ok dante.  Sure, nice rubber dome keyboards exist.  I have a work-issued Kinesis Freestyle which feels great.  But I've read reviews here on GH of the HHKB Lite which indicate that it is not one of them.  Happy?

If you need a programming board and can;t afford the HHKB Pro version, I would get a KBC Poker or Pure. Cherry > Rubber Dome

And dante, even if you like RDs, why would you spend $90 on one that is pretty standard  other than the layout. I don't see the incentive of this board.

I think the smallest, I get, needs at least to have the inverted t (arrows). If not, its extreme for me!
So the HHK 2 is not for me. Even pricewise does not make sense (again, to me)...
I'm also willing to do page up/down, printscreen, etc, and F keys with the Fn key (not sure about delete and backspace (I use them both often)).

So I need to test it first. Without having tested it yet, these are my pros/cons:
Pros - Full size keys (and spacing I guess), mini size. I'm used to small keyboards (laptop size and with no numpads)
Negatives - Price, and placement of some keys, ctrl, tab, etc.

The more I see it, long travel keys don't make sense to me (Cherry MX = 4mm) they slow me down...
In other words a perfect keyboard for me would be a Cherry MX (Blue) with 1mm to 2mm key travel, but with a click sound (volume and frequency) of a mouse click.

Hmmm I guess. Well, if you care the KBC race has the integrated arrow keys and has Cherry switches for around the same price. Matias also has compact boards using their version of Alps switches like the Mini tactile pro and they have 3.5mm travel.

Or you could try o-rings on cherry switches to reduce travel.

Tried the MX Browns & reds with 2 O-rings for each key, and still...
Gotta try the Blues or Greens...

Have you ever used a Thinkpad laptop keyboard?  They are high quality scissor switch boards and their USB desktop version is pretty compact (esp. if having the trackpad at the bottom is a plus for you). They go for about $55.

IBM Model M,
IBM Model M4-1 SpaceSaver,
Cherry G84-4100 Slimline (ML switches),
Microsoft Arc,
Razer Tournament (with Brown, not with me anymore),
QFR (with Reds, not with me anymore ).
And I do remember the toughness of old Unix (maybe Sun?) keyboards.

I'll keep testing them... I'm getting use to my G84 mini now, but I wanna have less travel on the keys.

your hhk lite is going to have a greater travel distance than your g84.
you should have looked at all the other reviews of the HHK lite 2 and how much other people hate that board...

the amount of money you spend to get the subpar board with arrow keys is more than one hour of pay during which time you'd get used to the fn arrow keys on HHKB pro.

Like I said; the HHK Pro (or any keyboard without arrow keys) is EXTREME!!!
I need/most typers do (arrow keys) in this time and age, without using the Fn keys.
I've used (most of us use) the arrow keys constantly specially when typing.
It's like telling me I need to use the Fn key for the QWERTY keys.
For example I'm still getting used to the Microsoft Arc keyboard small arrows keys (but I was previously aware).
I haven't received it/reviewed it yet (so my final opinion is not final).

i have more faith in your ability to learn it than you do
 it's not only my opinion but pretty much everybody that has ever paid for one. i hope you like the board, or at the very least are able to resell it if it doesn't meat your needs.
