So, I don't think the problem is with my Blue Cube.

It works perfectly on my moms PS/2 board, it seems to only have issues when I convert it from AT to PS/2 then to USB.

It also didn't work properly when I converted a USB board to PS/2 and then back to USB.

I'm not sure if another converter would work, any suggestions?

The one techkeys.us sells has always worked for me even with AT -> PS/2

I still think either your PS/2 to USB or AT to PS/2 adapter is off.

Will a Leeku PCB fit into a g81-1800 case?

Yes. You might have to do a little bit of cutting but I'm pretty sure I test fit mine into a G81-1800 case. It's been a little while since I've tried it.

Sweet! They are considerbly cheaper then their counterparts and I only want the case so that is perfect

I just got a bunch of G81-1800s in today, I'd be willing to sell one for like $10+shipping.

Please don't use this thread to buy and sell stuff. PMs is fine but I'm trying to keep this thread clean so that people don't see it as a way to avoid the classifieds rules.

I still think either your PS/2 to USB or AT to PS/2 adapter is off.

It could still be, I'm going to try that adapter that spamray recommended, if it doesn't work, the Model M i'm getting is coming with an AT > PS/2 adapter so I'll try that one too.

Anyone know the difference between these two? Which one would you get?

http://gaming.coolermaster.com/en/products/keyboards/rapid-i/ vs http://gaming.coolermaster.com/en/products/keyboards/quickfirerapidred/
QFR-i is backlit and uses a much more powerful SM ARM controller. OTOH, the original QFR wasn't backlit and had a simpler controller (with PS/2 support), but it was possible to replace it by The Frosty Flake by bpiphany, enabling the user to run a custom firmware (at the cost of losing PS/2 compatibility).

If i have a cherry MX keyboard with a single key that works 99% of the time, what should i be troubleshooting? Its really only a quick miss that autocorrect or a quick backspace and repeat corrects... but i'd like to make this my workhorse at the office so hopefully I can fix it.
Should i desolder and replace or can i pull it apart with out desoldering and check the contacts? Point me in the right direction. K thanks.

Assuming it's the ducky board you posted about elsewhere it will be plate mounted and require desoldering to replace the switch.

That would work, as fohat confirmed.  If you ever take the Model M to another machine (and want those changes to transfer with) or swap keyboards on that computer (and want the new keyboard to *not* have these changes), you may want to investigate hasu's TMK USB to USB converter, which allows you to reprogram a board by essentially acting as an external controller to swap key inputs.  Here is a review.  Here is hasu's artisan thread to purchase.  Fair warning, I am not sure how a Model M will perform with it (hasu is uncertain, and njbair doesn't touch on it in his review unless I missed it).

Alternatively, Phosphor Glow offers a replacement controller for Model M that will serve the same function but cannot be used with different keyboards.

BS cap profiles are all the same. It's the bend in the plate that changes.

Is there a proper way to put IBM back on?  Or am I thinking too much as usual >.> ??

The keycaps?  You may need to tilt the keyboard back slightly to get the spring to seat properly in the cap.  Moreso with F than M (I literally tilt my Fs at a 90 deg angle).  Other than that, nah.  If it buckles properly, you're good, to the best of my knowledge.

Seriously? Just push the button back into place. If it doesn't click properly when you press down on the cap, pull it back off, and push it back in.

backwards or forwards?

The way that doesn't push it against the wall and make it impossible to put the cap on (backwards ;) ).

Or the other way. For me, at least 90% usually go on OK just sitting there. For the pesky ones, I usually rock the board forward, and if that doesn't work, then I try backward. On rare occasions, I have even held it upside-down. Whatever works. It can take half a dozen tries, but they usually go on easily.

I have a GH60 Rev. C.
I would like to install LED's and I dont care much for being able to do fancy controls with them or anything like that. None of that zones stuff. Just all one color, all on together.

Do I need to install resistors on all those allocated spots for them?

I don't think the controller is currently setup to support LEDs. As far as I know, the GH60 was designed to include LEDs later but there needed to be a new module installed. I could have very very outdated information though.

"Hi,

so far you have to use a 3rd party module if you need backlight, in the future there might be an expansion module for gh60 which will offer independent per-LED backlight, but that will cover only the gh60 board. Backlighting ghpad will require a separate solution.

According to our settlements with geekhack, the rev. C files will be released when the group buy ends, and it has been delayed.

Best regards,
Michał"

I just got my Model M today. I really like it, but the stabilized keys are acting weird.

The left shift key is binding really badly if you press it off center, and the right one seems to be binding on the upstroke and getting stuck.

I've tried reseating the keys but it hasn't helped.

Anyone know why this might be?

Sometimes it can take multiple reseats to fix any issues. Could be the rivets have broken and your hammers aren't aligned anymore.

Only those keys though? I've done a keyboard test and every single key consistently worked, including the ones mentioned.

I don't know exactly because I don't have the board in front of me. Keyboard test only tests for continuity electronically. Doesn't mean there's nothing physically wrong.

Maybe your stabilizers aren't seated right. Maybe your caps aren't seated right. Maybe the rivets are broken. I'd check all those.

I took out the stabilizers and cleaned them with glasses cleaner and a q-tip and now they work fine.

It wasn't the springs that were the problem, the switches worked fine with a smaller keycap on them.

I just updated my mac to El Capitan and my HHKB stopped being able to wake it from sleep. It's a 2011 iMac and I did a clean install of El Capitan with the keyboard plugged in, using it to type in all the set up stuff for a "new" mac. I have tried with and without the driver installed, different usb cables, different usb ports, restarting my computer, a bunch of dip switch combinations, and I even unplugged and replugged the controller. I have also updated the "change keyboard type" setting every time I changed something. My planck wakes my computer from sleep just fine, and the HHKB wakes up my 12" MacBook running the same version of OS X. It was working fine when I was running Yosemite.
The real kicker, and why I don't want to just use my house is - It will also be unresponsive for the first 5 or so keypresses after sleep
Any suggestions on fixes past buying a hasu controller?

Does this sound ok?  I listened to music while typing to remove any bias I had towards the sound since I have only ever typed with the floss mod installed:

Sounds fine.

I took out the stabilizers and cleaned them with glasses cleaner and a q-tip and now they work fine.

It wasn't the springs that were the problem, the switches worked fine with a smaller keycap on them.

I've also heard that those barrel inserts on the longer keys can get slightly out of alignment, and might need to be straightened a bit.

That worked for one of my SSKs.
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

do any of the keys on that row work? if not check the end of the trace to the controller. may be a broken solder joint or separated resistor. i can't seem to find a diagram of the PCB so its kinda hard to tell.
