Duh - does it have removable cable or not?
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

so, the red esc, red arrows, red wasd...are these rooted in a color coded system that's historical in its utilitarianism? is it just fashionable for gamers or kb mods? i feel i've seen mention of having proper color coding when using multiple colors (letters, numbers, punctuation...) in keycap sets but i can't seem to find the definitive info i'm looking for.

You'll more than likely have to find Korean springs

That's what I was getting at.

62g and 65g Korean springs are inbetween MX Reds and Black. You can get them in various groupbuys (Calavera just held one) and Sherry has some for sale in his classifieds board.

Darn. That's probably the thread I was looking at, the other day.
Also, it appears sherryton only sells them bundled with switches and stickers.

Qpad keyboards are just rebranded iOne keyboards. iOne makes pretty bad keyboards. It's better than a BW since it doesn't have the horrible gloss finish but as far as build quality goes they're about the same.

I have this really odd idea. At uni they have this full engineering lab with plates of aluminium, steel and everything really. I've got a couple of friends who have access to it. What would happen to the value of "The Cheat" if I were to make it 84 key layout like a winkeyless? Has anyone every thought of doing such a thing?

It would be a pain in the ass to do. You'd need to get the measurements all perfect.

You'd have a unique cheat. The value would probably be higher but would people really pay that much more considering there are loads of winkeyless boards anyway?

It would be a challenge. Get a measurement or radius wrong and it won't fit and/or will look weird. I really wouldn't recommend it.

Also you would need to have it all re-anodised since the colours wouldn't match.

Also, it appears sherryton only sells them bundled with switches and stickers.

Sherryton also runs a site called Originativeco.com. Hence the name of his vendor forum. Try going there for springs.

I thought the Cheat already had a WinKeyLess layout. And if you're just changing the plate, I'm pretty sure it won't hurt the resale of the Cheat.

The Cheat has an 86 key layout. 1.5 mods with windows keys. He means making a top plate with winkey blockers so it's 84 key.

Hello

Spilled some tea into my keyboard gfr blacks at work, It was working well I removed keycaps and cleaned it but after weekend, I just figured 3 of my switches are now stiffer, tea had sugar in it so I think frozen sugar made them stiffer, what solution do you suggest ? without removing switches.

Unfortunately you'll probably have to open the board and maybe even the switch up to clean the residue. There's just no other way to get all of it out. I would use rubbing alcohol to clean the mess.

5 switches malfunction, they are stiffer or not sliding well, I enject some alcohol 80 deg. they are much better now but still not good as  other switches.

I'll put more alcohol after work today, and we'll see tomorrow, I was going to buy brown switches so I think I have to buy it now.

Like I said, just flooding the board/switch with alcohol might not help. You might have to open it.

They both look like Filcos to me. One is a TKL, the other appears to be a white one with blank black keycaps inside of a box.

That is a Filco Majestouch (104), and it looks like it's in its box, but the top of the box was cut off. :)

so, the red esc, red arrows, red wasd...are these rooted in a color coded system that's historical in its utilitarianism? is it just fashionable for gamers or kb mods? i feel i've seen mention of having proper color coding when using multiple colors (letters, numbers, punctuation...) in keycap sets but i can't seem to find the definitive info i'm looking for.

any help?

Lol, have a little patience! It hasn't even been a day since you've asked your question. The RGB mods and Red escapes stem from an era when keyboards were used in industries such as airlines. When the boards were introduced with those keys, they used the colors to train people. Since then, WASD and Arrows have taken on this color trend because it looks cool. Does this satisfactorily answer your question?
