Hey,
Been a while since I've posted here, after using my Poker with blacks for a quite a while now, I've got the itch to try something new, and would like a TKL or smaller keyboard with blues or less common switches.

Seen the Filco MINILA and the Leopold FC660M which looks funky, but I'm out of the loop really so I thought I'd ask you guys.

Any recommendations?

Thanks

Trade you for my Race! :))

And as far as recommendations go, I've seen some cherry tg3 bl82 boards, with mx clears i believe, on ebay some days ago.

Haha what switches? :P I'm also based in the UK.

Had a quick look and they don't look bad, although since reading a couple of threads I've seen some pictures of korean custom boards and think they look fantastic, how would I go about looking into them more/buying one?

If you wanna learn more about the Korean boards, I'd suggest starting here. Unfortunately, it's more picture heavy that detail heavy. But you can always post up in my Simple Questions, Simple Answers thread if you see something you like and I can hunt some details down for you.

Hooray for self promotion!!  :p

Supposedly the GH60 is coming out between June to September of this year. Korean boards have been going for sale in the classifieds lately. Otherwise, I'm not sure how else you can grab em. You can also check out the Team Redline subforum. They recently did an LZ-GH GB.

Yeah, but I want a new keyboard now :P

I'll edit my thread in the classified to focus more on korean boards and hopefully someone has one they're looking to sell I guess.
Just checked that thread, apparently it's waay too late to join that GB.

The only site that has a stock of Korean customs that I know of is kbdmod. I'm pretty sure you'd need to use a proxy service since I doubt they ship outside of Korea.

If you don't want to buy from there then you're going to have to look at classifieds, unless there are some sites that I'm unaware of.

Korean customs seem to originate from the forums only. AFAIK, there aren't any sites besides the one Photekq linked to buy them.

Well hopefully someone is looking to sell one and will post in my classified thread :D
Had a quick look at the site, think ideally I'd like to get someone to assemble as well as proxy it, depending how 'itchy' I get I can always have a go at playing about with desoldering switches etc on my poker first before risking a board worth as much as the Koreans :P

I've just been recommended to look into a Vortex KBT ONI and then get an alu case for it for a similar affect to one of the Korean boards without the insane price tag/difficulty in buying.

Thoughts?

People have had mixed results from the Vortex. Some cases arrive with quite large defects - it isn't the highest quality case, but it's a good price. However, you will have a bead blasted, rough finish instead of the smoother finishes that most of the Korean boards have.
Also, check out my case. The link's in my signature.

I think the idea was to buy the keyboard, and then a 3rd party case :)
Your case looks pretty sweet, any ideas of price/production time?

Prototype will come soon, then IC, then GB. (hopefully)
Currently getting quotes so I don't have a price yet.
If you want a case now then go with the Vortex since it's the only option out there, but if you can wait then.. wait & see what happens.
There are also other cases being produced by other members, so take a look in the DIY section.

Nice, I'll keep an eye on it.

Sorry if I'm being a moron, but where can I find out about the Vortex case? Had a quick look in the vendor subforum but didn't see anything :(

Thanks.
For the same price I could try a Happy Hacking board....

Argh kind of wish I hadn't got the itch, since now having looked around a bit there are various boards I think I'd like!
