I wish that I could take credit for this one, but I can't.
"However, even though I was born in the Mesozoic, I do know what anyone who wants to reach out to young people should say: Billionaires took your money. They took your chance to buy a home. They took your chance at a good education. They stole your opportunities. Billionaires took the things you want in life. If you really want those things, you have to take them back.
That's the message. That's the whole message. Say that every day, not just to reach America's frustrated young white men, but people of every age, race, and gender.
Late-stage capitalism is a wealth-concentration engine, focused on vacuuming up every dollar and putting it in as few hands as possible. Republicans are helping that vacuum suck.
How does a tiny fraction of the population get away with this? They do it by dividing the other 99% of Americans against themselves."

(...)Whereas back then I wrote about the tyranny of the majority, today I'd combine that with the tyranny of the minorities. These days, you have to be careful of both. They both want to control you. The first group, by making you do the same thing over and over again. The second group is indicated by the letters I get from the Vassar girls who want me to put more women's lib in The Martian Chronicles, or from blacks who want more black people in Dandelion Wine.
I say to both bunches, Whether you're a majority or minority, bug off! To hell with anybody who wants to tell me what to write. Their society breaks down into subsections of minorities who then, in effect, burn books by banning them. All this political correctness that's rampant on campuses is b.s.

Thanks guys. Lol yeah I had to stand there for quite a while to wait for closer people to pass by. I pretty much got lucky with the weather since the wind produced that mist in the background and the tide provided some neat reflections :D

So much of field photography is just dumb luck lol.

It really comes down to who has better equipment.... because modern photography is less about getting 1 shot,  it's about taking bulk-shots and then selecting the 1 good one.

Not really.  Better equipment makes it easier to get the good shots, but you really have to have an eye for it and be good at it.  Someone who is good will have fewer bad shots to good ones.  They can also use bad equipment and turn out good shots.  I mean, you have photographers like Alex Majoli who did assignments with a crappy Olympus C-5050 and C-5060 and produced stunning photographs.

DSLRs made it more likely that someone who is a bad photographer will get a good to decent shot and they made it easier for people to learn how to make good shots, but they do not remove skill from the equation.

Spray&pray is for sport photos

Yes and no.  You still have to be cognizant of your background and know framing when you take sports/action shots.  You also have to have your timing down.

Some examples from my sports shots I've done.

This photo was taken in a single shot, no burst.  I held the camera over her and waited for the action and took that one shot when I knew the moment was right.  And getting to know your shots without looking through the viewfinder takes a lot of time with your camera.

More

This shot was at the end of a sequence and I kept shooting after all the photographers around me stopped because I saw something there they didn't.  It ended up being the lead photo for that game's gallery (and so you know, he's lying on the ground post tackle).

More

This shot I anticipated the moment and started shooting when I saw what was about to happen.  If I remember correctly, it was a 3-5 shot burst and I nailed this shot in it.  Same with the second photo here.

More

More

Both of these shots I anticipated and nailed with one shot.  I may have shot 2-3 images, but they were all basically the same shot.  And let me tell you, volleyball celebration shots are hard to nail.

More

More

And, lastly, shots like this you really have to anticipate and think about where you're shooting from.  Since I was shooting with my D70, I could only get 1-3 shots off at a time, so I really had to wait for the moment and anticipate it to nail it.

Why does all animals have to look dangerous in the rest of the world? You have 4 meter lizards with more teeth than I can count, huge boxing rabbits in Australia, fish with stingers, small furry animals covered in stingers and now even the cute innocent looking centipedes have huge mutha freaking stingers on the back?!?
