Not a big fan of that font (the lettering on the esc is huge, in particular).

But, if you can get over that, doubleshots + cherry stabilizers is nice.

Looks interesting, especially if Cherry stabilizers are your cup of tea, but I cannot stand italicized fonts.

They finally make pbt doubleshots, and make it all italics.  I just feel like the keyboard is being sarcastic.

Another board with the Fn key instead of the menu key :(  Don't people use the menu key?

Anyway, I've gone all TKL ;)

Exactly.  It's like Vortex went, oh, you like PBT and want doubleshots, well here you go

Good looking keyboard.

Now,  Couple of improvements I'd make:

Cut it in half

Add a diagonal thumb cluster

Fully Programmable in C

Lose the F row

Drop the numpad

Straighten the staggered keys into straight columns

:D   Does such a keyboard exist?

Did you guys know that the Ergodox doesn't Ping?   I just noticed this today.....  even when I put my ears up right next to the switch.. I can barely hear it...

Seems like rigid metal plates are the cause of most "ping" related incidents.

The longer I look, the worse it looks.  Is it just me, or are there different sized fonts and the function row is a bigger font? And what's with the top justification and centered mix and left justified and centered mix?

When you properly configure the Ergo-tenting; this is 80% true.

But the rest of the 20% will depend on whether your RSI is shoulder related

If it is shoulder related, the problem is usually due to table height and the general lack of table "incline".. :D.

It actually cures all known diseases and cancers, as well as lowering the risk of heart failure by 99%.

In some cases it has even caused regrowth of lost limbs and has brought one user back from the grave.

Let's see.. two different fonts? Check. Both fonts fugly? Check. Just a rebrand of somebody else? Check (that's a Filco chassis and I'd bet PCB too.)

And a company that can't even make backlit keys that don't fall apart suddenly claims to have double-shot PBT in mass production when Signature Plastics - who actually has double-shot expertise - still doesn't? Yeah.. betcha that's actually textured ABS.

Vortex are such idiots. They're able to do PBT doubleshots and yet they do it in such a stupid font. If they offered those keys in a Cherry replica font and sold them in various colours then they'd sell like hotcakes.

they cater to a different market..  asians don't really care or notice difference and nuances in western typography ... it's not that they don't see the difference, they just don't like one over the other, italic, non-italic... it's all foreign abc to them.

Just like if you looked at Chinese calligraphy vs simsun typeface that's used for most digital distribution, You wouldn't care one way or the other.

But. to a Chinese person they see personality and have associations to different type faces of their language.

Most of their market may be in China but if they actually made nice fonts then they would also have a large market outside of China. PBT doubleshots are highly desirable and if they made them in nice fonts then they would sell a very large amount of them outside of China.

highly desirable to whom?  the 1000 people on geekhack? LOL,, most americans don't care about typeface of their keyboards.

This is an example of us ghers having polarized opinion.. we've been stuck here so long that our vision is that of a man at the bottom of a well..

we've buried ourselves with keyboards.. no one else really does this..   no normal person that is.

When they were making the moulds they chose an ugly font. If they had put a bit more time and a bit more money into it then they could have had a much nicer font or even a Cherry replica font. The costs wouldn't be much more for them and it would allow them to sell more to people who care about the font. Okay, you're right, the market for a better font isn't as large as I made it out to be but still.. It's there.. and if they had just chosen a nicer font they could sell to that market.

It's not as if nicer fonts cost much more to make moulds for. There's no logical reason to choose an ugly font.

Based on WHAT exactly? No. Seriously. Tell me.
Oh, you think it's the TEXTURE that makes them PBT? Yeah. No. IBM M chassis - the whole thing - is ABS. You can texture ABS.
Oh, because they're THICK? Uh, yeah. I've got ABS double-shots that put those to shame and then some.

Seriously. It's Vortex. Take ALL claims with several truckloads of salt.

Stop, you're just allowing tp4 the chance to proliferate his profane beliefs even more! Next thing you know we'll be receiving books in the mail about e-Doxism containing stuff like "AND ON THE 7TH DAY.... THE ERGO-DOX WAS CREATED, AND WRISTS EVERYWHERE WEPT, FOR THEY HAD BEEN SAVED!"  :p
