After not being satisfied with the black switches on my SS 6Gv2, and the fact my most used keys started shining after 3 days, I went looking for a new keyboard, specifically a TKL with brown switches, with keycaps that wouldn't wear easily. Coincidentally, my local store just stocked with Quickfire Stealths in Red, Green, Blue, Black, and Brown. This met all my requirements, so I went and bought one.
I wasn't aware that the board came with a keycap puller, so I went crazy pulling the keycaps and looking at the switches. After a day of usage, I noticed a spill in the gap between the backspace and backslash keys, which was odd since I never drink/eat at my computer. I had to go look up a video on how to remove Costar stabilizers, which wasn't easy. I ended up breaking off the holder for the loop on the backspace, but luckily it snapped back on.
It turned out that the spill was the lube they used on the stabilizers during manufacturing. So I wiped it, and put it back on.
After, I noticed a problem. The backspace is now half-broken. I say this because if I press it normally, it won't actuate. It will only register if I push the key forward and press down. I popped the cap off again to see if it was the keycap itself that was the problem, but it still didn't actuate unless I moved the stem of the switch forward while pressing down.
By the time I found this, the store that sold my Stealth was sold out on all the Stealths in all switches aside from Green. I can return it and get the Green version, but noise is a dealbreaker for me. Not only that, there are no TKL keyboards stocked aside from a Razer Blackwidow Tourny edition in blur and QFR with reds, and I don't like the feeling of linear switches aftter my 6Gv2. There are no other stores in my area that stock mechanical keyboard other than Steelseries and Razer, so I'm not sure what to do.
Has this happened before to anybody? If I were to RMA the keyboard, I'm not sure what I would say is the problem with my keyboard.
On a side note, some of the switches on my 6Gv2 are upside down, I can provide pictures if anyone is interested.
