Razer Nostromo $38 after shipping ($33+$5)
« on: Fri, 16 August 2013, 10:08:21 »
http://sellout.woot.com/offers/nostromo-gaming-keypad-8

Refurbished with a 90 day Razer warranty.
Picking one up since it's pretty cheap
Anyone know how hard it would be to mod it with some cherry mx switches?

Pretty hard from what I've seen of the few people who actually did it lol. It's pretty much more time consuming and trouble than it's worth imo.

And I wouldn't really call this a great deal. You can sometimes get brand new Belkin N52TEs (the predecessor to the Razer Nostromo) on ebay for like $30 or so, they seem to pop up somewhat often. Also, you could get a brand new Razer Nostromo from Newegg for $45.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16823114015&Tpk=razer%20nostromo

And use the Google Wallet promo: http://promotions.newegg.com/nepro/13-2591/index.html?nm_mc=EMC-IGNEFL081613&cm_mmc=EMC-IGNEFL081613-_-EMC-081613-Index-_-MECH-_-Google-EB1A

I've been seeing a lot of newer members posting deals lately and they're not as great as you guys might think. You should do a bit more research before posting them. I don't say this to discourage you guys, but it can be misleading to other people who aware of prices and what's considered a good deal and not.

I've never seen the nostromo less than 50 + shipping on Newegg? Which still comes out to $20 more than the deal here. And that $20 is enough to make me bite.

Good to know it's more trouble than it's worth. Too many other projects so I'll forget about modding this for a while.

So I can sometimes get the older version of this product for cheaper on e-bay? no way!

How many times can I use my Google Wallet promotion code???
Offer limited to one per customer and may only be used once per account; cannot be combined with other promo codes, combo discounts, promotions offering free gifts, pre-order items, items sold by Newegg Marketplace sellers, and purchases of gift cards.

Once? Well ****, I've already used it before, guess that won't work for me, or the multitude of other people who have already used that promo once in their life...

Talk about being misleading, saying something is not a deal because of the google wallet discount is way more misleading.

That being said, it is STILL cheaper and your Newegg post.  $38 < $45
Even if I didn't use my Google Wallet promotion yet, WHY would I go through the hassle of signing up just to spend $7 (18% more expensive) more on the same product?

You could just do what you do at Target when you see a sale and don't like it: move on with your life

It seems time consuming, but not that bad: http://www.xim3.com/community/index.php?topic=8122.0

If I used game pads like this, I would definitely grab this and give that mod a try.

Lol really? How childish.

I've browsed many deal forums and actual e-retailer sites enough to know prices for peripherals well enough to tell the difference between a lukewarm deal at best and a good/great deal. I merely stated my opinion on this one, but hey if you don't care about getting the best value for your money then by all means keep blowing your money on "deals" like this. I don't care what you do with your money, but I care about helping people get the best value for their money in deals.

Irony? LOL I already spend a decent amount of my free time as it is posting the deals that I do and I've been doing this for months so I don't think I need to justify anything to you.

This actually helps me a lot. I'm considering modding a nostromo for the right hand. So I can duel wield nostromos. I would never leave my recliner.

Also I have a buddy whose son suffered TBI and needs a controller for his right hand that he can move, look, and attack with. Nostromo seems to fit the bill but it's for the wrong hand.

Yeah yeah yeah, calm down OP. Everyone who wants the deal has the link. No need to go after eachother...

(I got my N52TE for about $10 and I personally think it's barely worth that. Good mods for it I suppose) :P
