The threads with the Cherry MX DeathAdder and the Leetgion Hellion mouse get bumped all the time, you must've seen them by now?

OMG... That's the best way to reduce the longevity of your mouse switch's lifespan I have ever seen... Why would anyone actually do that to their mouse?!...

I just got some super clicky Cherry DG23-B1AA microswitches in the mail, and am typing this with a Model M. I just don't understand why people would want a silent mouse. Clicky is good, silent means it's not working.

I just got some super clicky Cherry DG23-B1AA microswitches in the mail, and am typing this with a Model M. I just don't understand why people would want a silent mouse. Clicky is good, silent means it's not working.

I don't like clicky, the noise drives both me and everyone around me nuts.

Also, lifespan isn't an issue for many here I'd assume, the switches last for quite a while, even with the reduced lifespan I'm guessing lots of people here on GH would've changed their mouse before the switches died.

Wrong. I replace those ****ty failing double-clicking Omrons with Cherrys because the mouse is still perfectly fine. Omrons only last a matter of months for the left click button, so why would I buy another ~$80 mouse because a ****ty microswitch has failed? Lifespan IS an issue.

Huh, seems most of my mice missed that memo, my gen1 G5 has several years of use and still works just fine, and several of my other mice have also seen extensive use, I have never had a microswitch die on me.

Same here. I've been using that aforementioned modded Krait as my portable mouse for 6 years with zero issues. Just did it so it's not clicky in public.

I do know that double clicking switches can be an issue, but I'm not quite sure how big of an issue it is when I can have a sizeable collection of mice, all of which get used regularly, and never experience a single failing microswitch so far.

There's the difference, you have a "collection" that you are rotating. I on the other hand don't rotate mice, I just eventually get a new one. I used to just get a new mouse when the left click went, but now I just replace the microswitch instead. All my regular use, gaming, and porn put a toll on the left click. But I have never had a Cherry microswitch fail on me yet. I should bring some of those mice back to life and sell them now, but that's probably not gonna happen anytime soon.

In general the higher quality logitech mice have a much softer click than some of their more "consumer-grade" versions. I find the G9X to be very soft, though it's getting a little hard to find one of those new (most online advertised as new are actually returns or refurbs from shady sellers).

Performance MX by Logitech is really soft. I think its predecessor was the revolution MX. Great mouses.

I don't know about omrons (they do have a rated lifespan of 1*10^6 actuations) but I will agree that the cherry microswitches are really great! I have a few from a G80-8113 I took apart, and I'm putting them in my trackball.

It's basically a trackpad at this point, but apple's mouse you don't have to click (just tap on the top). Personally, I don't like it, but if you are a fan of not clicking, maybe it's for you.

I think both Logitech and MS have also made touchpad mice similar to the magic mouse, if you want minimal noise and won't be using it for gaming, I'd give the Logitech ones a look.

8113's are where I got mine from originally as well, and that's why I ordered 25 of them for my own trackball mods. Maybe next weekend I'll take some pics of the progress.
