Help me to decide
« on: Thu, 22 August 2013, 15:55:02 »
Hi all.

I need your advice i'm getting my first mechanical keyboard. The thing is there too many models and i dont know what to choose. Also I'm from Spain and all the keyboards that actually fit me and it is "easy" to buy (cooler master) they are out of stock -.-

I prefer tenkeyless(but not mini) , brown cherry, Spanish layout (1% possible xD) and with usb conection. I'm a casual gamer (all games) and a casual writer (some college stuffs). I dont care about details, just write a few ones that you consider that they are good choices and i will try to get them. Thank you.

Really, cooler master keyboard is perfect but out of stock in all stores, that's why i will buy it from ebay or something likely.

P.D: BTW, this verification thing sucks xD

Hi!

I'm from Spain too! I've recently bought my first mechanical keyboard too, i wanted Cherry MX Blue with spanish layout and i bought a Razer Blackwidow Ultimate.

If you are looking for tenkeyless, your two only options, as fas as i know are:

The Cooler Master and Zalman ZM-K500, the second one is available through pccomponentes.com BUT is uses bad switches (some kind of low grade cherry copy).

Other options:

You can get a KBT Pure Pro with Spanish layout, which despite being a 60%, have the the arrow keys more or less on it's place.

Also, i think that might be possible (but very difficult) to find a IBM spacesaver with spanish layout.

As a last option, you have a couple of strange tiny spanish layout with arrows mechanical keyboards:

CHERRY G84-4100

and

CHERRY G84-5200

but both use Cherry ML instead of Cherry MX

So, if i were you i would search for a Cooler Master, maybe online or second hand, and as a second option go for the KBT Pure pro (is a nice board).

My next board will be using ANSI layout as i want to learn it so i can have more keyboard options in the future.

See ya!

Welcome to Geekhack!

Have you considered buying one from oversea e.g. China?  The KeyCool I got from qtan was slightly cheaper than what I could get locally, shipped in under 3 weeks, and is great.
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

Thank you all. Yesterday i was looking qtan website. there are a few interesting keyboards. Anyway i asked by email if they could get me cooler master models. If not i will see.

About KBT pure pro it has not F1 F2 keys and i use them often. About the cherry's hmm they are my last option i guess.

P.D: About keycool. I know this brand, i read a few reviews. i will ask for keycool 87 if possible. 84 model looks a bit small for me.

I'm getting this http://www.ebuyer.com/519563-cooler-master-cm-storm-quick-fire-tk-mechanical-gaming-keyboard-sgk-4020-gkcm1-uk#

They ship to Spain from UK so no risk to pay aditional taxes.

So, you finally doesn't mind about the Spanish layout?

If you don't mind about the layout, you can explore now a lot of options!
