[UPDATED] Spilled liquid on my Blackwidow.

I'm sorry if tis is te wron place to ask tis and if some letters are missin in te text, I'm usin a really old keyboard tat doesnt work properly.

I saw a tread on tis  few minutes ao and I just wanted to ask ow exacly I use distilled water to rinse te keyboard.

Wat appened:

I spilled cocolate milk over my razer blackwidow ultimate, turned it over imediately and waited a bit. Took off te caps and tried to plu in and test... Didnt work altou te leds were dim but workin. Tis all appened in around 10 mins.

Its been some ours of researcin now and I tout of askin you uys, te specialists.

Tis text looks funny because of te missin letters, srry about tat.

Do I still ave a cance? I feel really bad because I bout tis in te USA in my trip tere barely a mont back and it costs double te price ere in brazil so yea...

This is the best adivce anyone can give you in this situation :D .

Black Widows have a bad reputation here for being overpriced for what they are.  I imagine you could try pouring some high % alcohol into the switches (96%+) or squirting some high quality contact cleaner and waiting for a long time for the switches to dry.  But at worst (and likely), you may need to desolder the switches, disassemble, clean, reassemble, resolder.  And it might be better to just get a cheap CM QFR

A friend of mine spilled something on his blackwidow, I told him to put it in a bag of rice and that saved his.

If you want to try and save your current keyboard then I suppose you could just pour distilled water all over it and then submerge it in rice or some other absorbing material.

Had one, broke after two months when I brought it to a lan, bought a CM Storm, didn't break after 5 lans, that's a good sign...

Hahahahaha... There are Rapids over here and they cost less than a Blackwidow, though unfortunately they're only available in MX Black...

But there is an imported Cherry MX Blue ANSI Rapid here: (R$ 325, around US$ 140 and that's normal here)

The thing is, even if you managed to clean it and dry it up, it won't function as well. I am sure some LED light would be broken or some keys would not registered. It's a pain, I know.. and I feel for you. But I think there's not much you can do.

You might have made a mistake by plugging it in within 10 minutes.. I'd say the minimum time to wait would be 24-48 hours. That's how I broke my first mechanical keyboard (BlackWidow Ultimate).

Actually... While the quality on the older models really is AWFUL and on both new and old the keycaps are terrible, the PCB and soldering all looks pretty damn nice on the newer models, especially on the Razer Blackwidow Tournament Edition:



Hell, the soldering looks even nicer than on my Costar keyboards. The OEM for the BW 2013, BWU 2013 and TE models isn't the same as the older models, but the same OEM as on CM Quick Fire TK and Logitech G710+.

But since his model IS the old 2009 model made by iOne, which is also the only mechanical gaming keyboard with 2KRO, might as well trash it, as you guys are saying...

The thing is, on contrary to popular belief backlit keyboards are NOT better when it comes to quality, compared to non-backlit keyboards.

If the FILCO costs the same as the BWU, even still get the FILCO, it's a far better keyboard due to its better keycaps and stabilizers (and that, my friend, influences typing and gaming more than you think it does).

This, my blackwidow would only spam v and open apps after spilling coke on it, let it sit for a good 24-48 hours and try again

I have the Tournament Edition and it's built like a tank. It's pretty comfortable as well.

you guys gotta clean off those salts and minerals that are left behind after spills. that is where the alcohol comes in. the only downside is everytime you do a alcohol wash you risk washing out switch lube.

Ok uys, ood news. Te keyboard is workin!!! But still some keys are sticky and ard to press. SoI need to clean it! I don't ave contact cleaners nor isopropyl, te ripster uide says it is fine to use ot water. Is it really?

te keyboard is workin fine actually, I spammed te keys and tey unstuck temselves. So, my question is: Eeverytin is definetly dryed up, can I use it like tat or do I really need to clean te switces because it mit still enerate some sort circuits tat could end up ****in te eletronic part?
