Installing O-Rings an easier way.

Is there a way to install O-rings that easier than having to put the  o-ring on the top of the key then having to push down the ring with a thin pencil on all 4 sides to get it to go to the bottom?

I put the O-ring around the stem and then use the edge of a nickel (or any small but thick coin) to roll around the stem pushing the O-ring into place. It may not be any faster but you can do it without looking.

can't you just put it at the top of the key, then with normal typing use it will slide down to the bottom?

I find tweezers work pretty well... you can push on two sides of the o-ring at once, which is usually enough to do it in one push.  They're also pretty good at taking the o-rings off again later.

can't you just put it at the top of the key, then with normal typing use it will slide down to the bottom?

On the keys I tried to do that with, the O-ring held its place well enough that I could feel the uneven travel between the keys. It made typing really uncomfortable and I ended up pulling them all up and pushing the O-ring down completely.

I guess if your strike force is so high that you crush the key down that would work but it didn't for me.

I agree, I too use a pair of tweezers for setting my O-rings and its actually quite fast. I use them open to pushing in two sides at once and used them closed and leverage the O-rings out when removing them. I've seen people use the cover of small pens to push them in because its round though it should be quite hard to find that proper size.

I just used the plastic keycap puller that came with my Ducky Shine 2. It works quite well for that purpose.

Use a Bic pen and take the end cap off. It will push all around at the same time.

Angular parts of wire keypullers (like Filco) are actually quite convenient.

I made this mistake when I installed my O-rings. The feeling when typing was just miserable because the rings don't slide to the top but stay where you put them.
