Cheap way to add weight?

Hey everyone, I'm looking to add some weight to my QFR

My desk is a very smooth wood top and my qfr stays put when typing but still slides fairly easily when pushed with a finger.

I'm trying to think of cheap ways to add weight to it.

I checked out those lead weights for toy wooden cars, but they are about $4 for 2oz, and I'm wanting to add a good pound or so.

I don't have any scrap metal or anything to add in, so it will be something I have to go out and buy.

I was thinking of getting some modeling clay, its very dense, and I could spread it along the bottom of the inside case, and then lay something ontop of it to keep it from touching the pcb, but my concern is moisture from the clay next to the PCB. Ive used it to add weight to mice and such, but never a keyboard.

Maybe some better feet with more grip would serve you better than weight? Or both!?

The clay idea would work, but I would add a layer or two of plastic/stretch wrap between the clay and the PCB. That would keep the moist clay from affecting the PCB.

Ripster used to have a guide for making custom weights on the backyard grill. You make forms out of wood, line them with several layers of aluminum foil, then melt lead and pour it into the mold. Quick, safe, and easy.

Or go to Wal-Mart and buy a roll of waffled rubber drawer liner and cut a mat to fit.

it's not really a good idea to play with lead where you may be cooking later...

On all my boards i've already filled the case with the checkered shelf liner ( i'm not sure it does anything... ) But i had some laying around so why not.

You might have better luck if you put the shelf liner underneath your keyboard instead of inside it...

I put my keyboards on multiple mousepads that I get for $1 from artscow.. no slip n slide for me

I read somewhere that putting it inside the case can help dampen the sound of mx blues? ( hollow amplification space and all )

I put some in mine and the difference was minimal at best.  for weight, I would get some stick on wheel weights.  clean the inside of the case with alcohol before you apply them and you should be good to go.  You could probably get some for free from a local tire store.
