So it looks like the Red Sox beat the Cardinals 8-1 in the first round. Any thoughts opinions on it or what may happen next?

Was waiting for a baseball thread to turn up...

GO RED SOX!!!

Each of the last 2 World Series the Red Sox have been in, they have swept them.  Hoping they can continue that legacy.

If they can't do that, then I just hope they win it.

Well, turns out the Red Sox didn't make it in the second round. They came close, though!

The American baseball teams are simply better than the foreign ones.

Why do you call it a world series, when only America's involved
unless they have some unforeseeable downside (like they're actually made of cream cheese cunningly disguised as ABS)

Toronto is the only international baseball team. Use to be the Montreal team, but they moved to Washington D.C.

Because only Americans actually pay attention to MLB?

And your statement is inaccurate, read my above post.

And would you believe it cost the same to ship a package to the UK as it did to ship to Canada! That's crazy.

It's run by the government, what else do you expect? :))

That actually gave me an idea...

The government should sell the USPS to a private owner, and use the money to dial down our national debt. Turn it into a private business like UPS or FedEx.

I asked the online chat one day if I could print my pdf labels at 90% size to fit a smaller package and there response was, 'Use a bigger box'

Pffft that's just illogical.  Bigger box = higher shipping costs!

They're trying to steal all your monies.

We sold off our postal system about £200 million too cheap, and the next day the workers striked. I would advise against it.

It's called the World Series because the USA is the greatest country on the planet and when the greatest country in the world holds the championship for the greatest sport in the world, citizens the world over are paying attention.

But I miss the days when more players went with the knee high socks.  Such a classier look than the sweatpants they wear now.

Do the Americans present a team for the Football World cup? (The one with the round ball) pretty sure they dont for the Rugby world cup either, you should do.

it is by default that football is played with a circular ball. it's not handegg!
(...)Whereas back then I wrote about the tyranny of the majority, today I'd combine that with the tyranny of the minorities. These days, you have to be careful of both. They both want to control you. The first group, by making you do the same thing over and over again. The second group is indicated by the letters I get from the Vassar girls who want me to put more women's lib in The Martian Chronicles, or from blacks who want more black people in Dandelion Wine.
I say to both bunches, Whether you're a majority or minority, bug off! To hell with anybody who wants to tell me what to write. Their society breaks down into subsections of minorities who then, in effect, burn books by banning them. All this political correctness that's rampant on campuses is b.s.

You mean soccer?  We make the World Cup every time, but can't find 11 good players in a country of 310 million.  Except in 2002 when by the grace of the Grand Poobah we made the quarterfinals.
