As I was crossing the street and was carrying a box with our engineering project in it, a group of pretty (very) girls was also crossing the street next to me.  They start walking in front of me almost as if they were blocking me trying to get my attention.  One of the cuter ones asked me what was in the box.  I just say it's a 'robot' and ask if they are high schoolers touring since I saw some earlier that were.  They say 'no, we're from the Morman church down the street."  Then I get a business card and am asked how my religion has helped me in college.  I leave.  FML

tfw a highschool aged girl has a business card and I don't ...

It's a Pentium G3258, bonus clocks of 1.5 GHz are common, if not expected. On the stock cooler.

No, i mean is he selling you a KNOWN chip, as in tested @ 4.x ghz.

I have done 4x g3258 machines  4.8ghz 4.7ghz 4.6ghz 4.4ghz

The 4.4 means the spread is quite wide..
Oh I see what you are saying. Well, he claims he runs it at 4.6 in the winter and 4.4 in the summer without any issues, and this is on the stock cooler, so I expect (if he ever actually sells it to me) that I could push it further. Although I might have to look elsewhere if he doesn't respond soon, I have every other part of the rig on it's way right now

Well, if he's fluctuation between winter and summer,  that sounds to me like he may not be the most adept overclocker..

And since he's overclocked on Stock cooling,  the wear and tear on the Chip is also generally higher, because (more heat stress)..

Regardless, there shouldn't be that large a fluctuation summer/winter fluctuation unless he lives in Africa and doesn't have access to air-conditioning..

Normally, I'd ask you to ask him what voltage he used to get 4.6,  but given the information thus far,  he probably doesn't know how to read the right voltage and if you taught him how, you'd come off as a bit condescending.. hahahahaha...

I'd say buy a new chip..

I misread his email, he used to run at 4.6, but now runs at 4.4, and he doesn't switch back and forth. Sure, he's a newbie, but I don't think he could have possibly hurt the chip, even just on the stock cooler. I think the chip is probably fine, I highly doubt the chip could have that much, if any, wear and tear on it. CPU's these days are generally pretty durable, especially these Pentiums, but I'm sure you know that  :thumb:

Late in the game? Tell that to my FX-6300. (lol, AM3+ is so old)
I want to play with Intel for a change. I always build my friends Intel systems, but I've never actually owned an intel powered system myself, so I figured I would kill 2 birds with 1 stone and build the small (cheap) media PC I've been meaning to build for a while, while also getting to play with a (cheap) new platform. Plus I already had most of the parts I needed, so I figured why not. Did I mention that it is cheap?
Don't judge me TP4tissue! I thought I could trust you to be unbiased and kind  :'(

The G3258 would be just fine for almost any media PCs, and would also allow you to upgrade to something like a 4690 or 4690k down the road if you find one for cheap.
Duck Blackbird - Gaterstotles /// O'Mira - V Blacks /// LZ GH v2 - V Clears /// Leopold FC980C /// TGR Jane CE v2 (unbuilt) /// Lin Dolphin 2021 (unbuilt)

There are two people in my office who are "definitely not a couple" - that is what they tell us all the time. Well, these two "not love birds" have been arguing now for like 45 minutes about something which I don't care to understand because I only have so many ****s to give. But no one needs to be right this badly if you don't have something going on. Just be quiet.

Tp4 no Judge... !!

Yea.. g3258 is a fun build if you got most of the stuff already.. It's faster than AMD for all thing single core..

So, like CSGO, Starcraft 2, Dota, League,  it's the winner by a wide margin..

G3258 is delidable via the traditional hammer method as well..

Whereas the new 66-67k can't take the hammer.. (not-safely)

Delid makes a big difference on these chips obviously,  really helps during max overclock.  The difference is usually 10-20 Celcius off Max-temp

Make sure you buy Liquid Ultra after you delid. you need liquid ultra for delid..

Oh alright, I was getting worried there for a second  ;D
And I didn't know that delidding was worthwhile on a pentium, I'll remember to delid if I need to really push my overclock.  :thumb:

The problem with me is that I actually am always right.  And YOU know this.

I'm gonna go ahead and confirm you're wrong in this case.
Shows what you know.

What if I told you, you were both wrong all the time?
I might have to rescind my cuddle session offer.

We are both always right...except when I'm right about something and he is wrong. I just let him think he is right so he doesn't get crabby.  You can be always right too...just don't let us know.

Don't lie to her. She's always wrong. ****ing entitled millennials.

Bull****. I always have to be right regardless of relationship or not. The **** if I'm taking an L. And YOU know this.
