Typing of The Dead: Overkill now available on Steam
« on: Tue, 29 October 2013, 14:43:34 »
http://store.steampowered.com/app/246580

I don't think I need to say anything about this, since most of you will know exactly what it is.

But for the uneducated, its a spin-off on House of the Dead. An arcade game where you shoot zombies with light guns, but instead in this version you use your keyboard to type words instead.
Many of you will have played or know about the original one on the dreamcast (and later ported to PC).

Very happy SEGA hasn't forgotten about this series. :D

EDIT: Even cheaper on GMG with code: GMG20-50Z66-SCTEU: http://www.greenmangaming.com/s/nl/en/pc/games/action/typing-of-the-dead-overkill/

I just noticed they're working on a multiplayer mode! It would be cool to play with some of you once that comes out.

Anyone know if it is redeemable on steam if you buy elsewhere?

As far as Linux, it doesn't have a native port, but should play fairly well on Wine.

Green Man Gaming provides a steam activation code. Not sure about other online stores, but they usually list how to get the game.  IE, if it's a steam activation, it'll usually say something like "Steam DRM"

Yes, this works. texture resolution is always 720p. Even if you set it higher, its just an upscale.

Are you sure? the game should run VERY WELL on anything equivalent to or greater than an " Nvidia 7800gt "

recommended says:

ATI Radeon HD 6450, NVIDIA GeForce GT 220 or Intel Integrated Graphics HD 3000

I know GMG provides steam codes if the game has them, but a lot of games don't, even if they're also sold on Steam. I just wanted to see if I bought this on GMG using the discount, if I could get it activated on Steam.

Games that are not "also " sold on steam.. would not have steam codes.

There are quite a few games that the CD key or serial will activate it on steam as well. I've got a few different games that I've bought from one site, and activated on steam.

So "color" is "colour" and "gray" is "grey"?  Hmm, that would screw with my mind...

I don't know what is 7GB about it, but man is it fun :p

Also, you get regular House of the Dead: Overkill along with it (almost seems obvious, since the typing version is just the original with typing-triggered-aimbot)

Steam doesn't really do coupon codes, due to the frequency of their sales. Best to just wait a couple weeks. Steam usually has a huge blow out sale around Thanksgiving in the US. Stuff gets marked down as much as 80%
