Have you ever played an online game, and you felt like someone was
treating you like you were just an accessory to his playing? If yes,
you have found someone with a decease fairly common in the internet
world today. The 1st player syndrome.
What are the symptons of such mind numbing disase? Only one: the
afflicted believe he is the hero of the game and everybody else is a
dumb NPC.
Everything you do has to provide him some benefit. Every mistake you
make, every step you take, he'll be watching you. And if not to his
pleasing, he'll yell at you. "Uninstall, you piece of trash", he'll
say. When he dies, it's game over. You lost.
You see, to him, it's not a team game. It's a him with NPCs against
other NPCs.
If something good happens, clearly it is his achievment. He is the
hero after all. If something bad happens, it is never his fault. The
hero doesn't make mistakes. He saves the world, wins the game. He
cannot be just a stupid arrogant jerk.
