Transparent casing, just like Matias switches would be a easy way to do it, plus the backlit keycaps are already done and available (unlike Matias).

But then, Topre needs to make a new variation of their switch, I guess :)

Are we still not realizing that we're being raped by the hype surrounding mechanical keyboards?

These things are bottom barrel in terms of cost to produce...  its a keyboard... in 2013 !!!!!

The prices are high due to popularity...

Remember Yomega Yo-Yos...  and Pokemon cards?

You can't compare collectables like that in terms of production cost vs value. What did an Action Comics #1 cost to print? Your comparing cremini's and truffle's.

The brain police are about to shut this forum down.
Citizens United violates the essence of what made America a great country in its political system. Now it’s just an oligarchy, with unlimited political bribery being the essence of getting the nominations for president or to elect the president.
So now we’ve just seen a complete subversion of our political system as a payoff to major contributors, who want and expect and sometimes get favors for themselves after the election’s over.”

And here I was thinking about selling my Klaxon and CCnG sets. Did they just swap out the plungers? Is it possible that Cooler Master brand has become even better? Where in the world is Carmen SanDiego?

This almost seems like an April Fools joke... in November.

Carter, so you were able to pull strings to get license to make topre switches? Unlike cherry switches were you can just buy it and build a keyboard, I don't believe this is possible with Topre unless they grant you permission.

I highly doubt anything will come of this.

Lol...if Carter is pranking us I will cry myself to bed.

Carter has been planning this for a long while, it's no prank.

[11/06/2013 20:39:30] Carter Salley: but too early to share
[11/06/2013 20:39:41] Carter Salley: you will see soon
[11/06/2013 20:39:53] Carter Salley: maybe custom topre....
[11/06/2013 20:40:04] wetto: well, Topre is getting cheaper
[11/06/2013 20:40:14] wetto: but it would be weird to see a CM Storm Topre keyboard, hahahah
[11/06/2013 20:40:22] wetto: and I don't even think they're designed for backlight
[11/06/2013 20:40:32] Carter Salley: maybe i am desiging with them
[11/06/2013 20:40:41] Carter Salley: maybe they will even be able to use cherry keycap
[11/06/2013 20:40:45] Carter Salley: anyway
[11/06/2013 20:40:48] Carter Salley: i have shared to much
[11/06/2013 20:40:51] Carter Salley: need to go to a meeting

... This image may have deeper meaning then.

Hahahahahahahaha! Hadn't seen that picture yet!  :))

Anyways, that's a backlit CM Quick Fire Rapid, Cooler Master has been planning it for quite some time. All that I know about it is that it ain't Costar (although the modifiers have the same size). And well, evaluating all I've heard from Carter and Matias about Costar, it's no wonder...

Is costar bad?

Not when they do a good job. When they choose a good factory they're one of the best choices out there and they use a Taiwanese keycap supplier that does some very nice ABS keycaps.

But... The problem is, that they're just a middle-man, sometimes they may choose a beginner factory (as what happened with a previous Matias keyboard) and then the problems arise. Bad soldering and using wrong keycaps (as what happened with 130 units of the CM Quick Fire Stealth over here in Brazil, check the Enter key: http://img593.imageshack.us/img593/6475/iuwn.jpg) isn't really all that rare with Costar, although it must be noted that the quality varies greatly between the factories that are used for each Brand.

The factory used to make FILCO keyboards is actually top-notch and thus Costar surely isn't bad for them.

But most of all, they're slow at doing things, don't care if they do errors and are very expensive. I know that's something they could work and fix as to avoid losing clients, but companies just can't wait for that to happen, if it ever will.

unless these hybrid boards wind up costing $300+ then ya know, same 'ol Topre.

I think it's time for a $55 topre board (after rebate) from newegg!!

This is just a more Adult Version...

You can't compare collectables like that in terms of production cost vs value. What did an Action Comics #1 cost to print? Your comparing cremini's and truffle's.

mass produced keyboard AT THIS TIME is not a collectable... we're not dealing in collectable markets.

Will be interesting to see how it's priced. If it's affordable I will definitely pick one up.

The case is new-looking, definitely not the same QFR case.

Also the keycaps are sitting a little too high.

Shieeettt, this may make me rethink buying a ergodox.

But gawd I hate TKL layouts. Will you have this in a 60%, 75%, or full size layout?

if the pictures were not enough for some reason, i can 100% confirm that this is not in any way a prank. i cannot confirm or deny whether this is the coolest thing that CM Storm has coming though.

TKL is the smallest they've gone, so I really wouldn't be planning on something smaller; but it WOULD be awesome!

FC660C is smaller, unless by "they" you meant coolermaster, which only certain people can confirm.
