Lame...  we've seen it all before...

They just went to China, and said, hey let's buy some of these, put a logo on it, and frip it for USD$..

and all the n00bs and kiddies flock...

Business as usual... no keyboard science, all gimmick...

Nonetheless, CM is a great and responsible company..

I only wish they'd be more daring..

A Trigger with more lighting modes?

Sweet :)

Competition is good!

But does make it more difficult to recommend only one or two keyboards to those seeking their first mech.
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

That lighting has received a lot of attention from end users who typically don't look at mechanical keyboards as 'worth the purchase' so sometimes adding in features like this really brings the attention we need to promote keyboard science.

Well, than at least please get the lighting right! Nothing is more annoying than trying to do keyboard work in a medium-low brightness environment and seeing the LEDs flicker! Deck (TG3) and Xarmor (or whoever is behind them, probably iOne) made boards are the only ones I've come along that didn't flicker -- reason: they didn't use PWM but current limiting for brightness control. Every more modern board I've come across uses PWM in the sub 1kHz range, Logitech, Corsair, Ducky all flicker (1st hand experience.) It would be easy to fix by increasing the PWM period to 8kHz+, I have done it on that little CMS Demo board mod and it works great.

I don't think we'll be seeing anything new with clears for quite a while, WASD have said they can't get the switches for more runs of the CODE w/clears.
It's a good width!  If it's half-width it's too narrow, and full-width is too wide.

Able to setup only particular keys to light up when playing certain games is cool; better if you can setup several different games; better if you can have different colors any way you want per game.

Otherwise, I prefer to light all the keys before I hit them so I can see what I'm pressing. Lighting them after I hit them is not useful. The video guy should try the same with the room's light off and I bet he will not be able to hit the keys he wants but only until after he has hit all the surrounding keys.

In regard to mechanical versus rubber, mechanical are way better once you get accustomed. As keyboards are usually used 8 hours a day, if the price difference is <$100, go for quality and durability (alas, never rubber domes).

But seriously, if you can make a sub 200 topre mx with LEDs, that would be most ideal.

I'm not the biggest fan of CM fonts on their keyboards but I do love the lighting options.

Just got myself a Ducky Shine 3 TKL with white LED's and if this is cheaper and sane quality, then I just might regret my purchase

back lighting an egdx is pointless.. because no one will ever agree on the letter arrangements.

And because the keys around the egdx is palm-able, there's no need for labels, because avid users could easily find all the keys without looking.

The same is not true on the rectangular board, because the horizontal length requires at least 1 jump (hand raise) for the 2-3 columns on the right side central block..

So with the regular rectangular boards.. you HAVE to look  down some times, because if you fault on a jump, the recovery cost is huge.

What does lighting have to do work the letter layout?

Anyone can just put on their backlit alphas in qwerty.

Also, side glow and under glow.

LOL n00bin' it up...

On the Egdx layouts are customized, even qwerty most often get changed up.

most layouts are just there out of tradition, and because most boards are not fully programmable, people stick with it..

There are so many little tweaks that you can do, which make it much more easy to use, and eliminating jumps are great because it greatly increases accuracy.

I bet you type on a rubber dome

Why does CM always has to copy something and sell it cheaper?

I love it!
This sucks more than anything that has ever sucked before.

Are there backlit ErgoDox?
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

I would go bat**** crazy over a cm storm ergodox with clears and shine 3 esque lighting modes

back lighting an egdx is pointless.. because no one will ever agree on the letter arrangements.

Working on changing the fonts... it's a struggle to get people on board when they sell out like crazy :/
