HHKB 60 shipped currently. How high can it go?
« on: Tue, 14 January 2014, 01:36:54 »
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Happy-Hacking-Professional-2-White-Gray-Keyboard-Topre-/301068487441?pt=PCA_Mice_Trackballs&hash=item4619148b11

Let's watch what price the free market decides for a HHKB. Would it be 200? 250? Or will some lucky buyer get away with 150?

I personally think the seller made a mistake to list it at 50 starting bid. It means nothing. Ebay will just charge you a fee for that.

Either list it at zero since you know there is an active market for HHKB, or list it at a reserve price that protects you from an unexpected loss.

Dammit, I was hoping no one would find that.  I was hoping to see if I could snag it cheap.

Funny thing is, I"m just a window shopper now all the way. I'm not hoping to snag anything!

Sometimes these go for ~ $175 but if it goes much over $200 I'd walk away.

EDIT: Wow price already doubled... ::)

I see these on Ebay quite a bit, HHKB's and Realforce's that start out cheap and usually end at or near retail used prices. Also most say hardly used kept mostly in the box, typed a few words and not for me blah, blah. Like Corvette sellers that never drive in rain or snow and keep it covered in the garage.

The ones that worry me are the ones with bad pics because they usually have shiny keys :P

Funny thing is, if photos are clear and well-taken and it looks unused, I would believe it was unused.

The people who love Topres usually hang on to their Topres, or buy even more and wind up not using them.

People don't usually use their Topres a lot, then sell.

I wouldn't sell my favorite keyboards either. They have sentimental value!

Yeah... any hope of a great find is pretty much down the drain at this point.

That would be a violation of GH terms and conditions.
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

The reason you see these pop up all the time,,  is because it's a MAJOR letdown for many people @ retail price... because fanbois on GH and reddit sucker people into them....

And you seldom hear negative press about Topre, even  from those who were let down.. because they're worried that if they say anything bad about the topre,, they would have trouble selling it off on ebay..

It's a double whammy situation....

Topre is mediocre PERIOD.

HA, not possible. Different country. That's why I usually window-shop. I can't take advantage of most sales because the price is not good enough to justify the shipping.

It's 200 already  :-X

It seems a lot of people prefer to buy via ebay bidding instead of direct purchasing  ^-^

If the seller wouldn't supplied the EK link, I am sure the keyboard would have sold near new price.
