Ducky DK9008G2 Pro questions
« on: Thu, 16 January 2014, 17:12:00 »
i got the Ducky DK9008G2 Pro and i have a couple questions.

the num, caps and scroll lock LEDs are extremely bright. they’re annoying enough that i turn them off especially at night. i have never had this problem with any other keyboard. i couldn’t find anything about dimming the LEDs. i was wondering if anyone knew of a good way to dim the LEDs? i haven’t popped the keys off yet but i was thinking of possibly putting paper in the keycap to block some of the light. after using these LEDs i'm really glad i didn’t get the shine.

the caps lock key is really bad. if you press it on the left side it goes down crooked and feels horrible. it feels nothing like the shift and tab keys. anything i can do about that? at least i rarely ever use the caps lock.

i have no clue what ducky was thinking when they made the windows key lockout a dip switch. why does it have to be a hardware switch? couldn’t they use Fn+F# key to disable it using software? does ducky really expect someone to turn over the keyboard and flip a tiny dip switch every time they play a game and then do it again when they're done? it’s more of a hassle then its worth.

i like the keyboard but these small issues do annoy me. mostly the LEDs because i always use the num pad but i have to keep the num lock off. thanks

Um.... you can use a marker on the led, it'll still shine through it, but with less brightness.

the capslock key, mm...... it's not stabilized which is why you're noticing the grinding, usually it's not "that bad"..

but if you used it more often it will smooth out a bit..

You could also get smoother keycaps.. the thick pbt ones are quite smooth..  for whatever reason, the Thin pbt ones the kbc ones are friction-ee..

The abs caps should generally be smooth, but can shave and sand down the stem a bit if the problem persists.

A small piece of tape on the inside of the keycap, or if you want a more permanent modification, you could replace/add resistors.
