Typeracer vs 10FastFingers?

TypeRacer because it's **** you might reasonably type. Higher likelihood of complex words and symbols as well.

I like to use 10FastFingers because I don't feel too pressured to win. 10FastFingers allows me to type freely without screwing up my WPM.

The thing is I feel 10FastFingers has more accurate speed as it begins once you start typing. Also for practising the tests are amazing (most used words)

I like to show my friends my score on 10fastfingers, but the truth is that typeracer is much more accurate. You don't use any punctuation in 10ff and the words are always the same, resulting in usually faster WPM on 10FF

take a few tests on both sites, I'd say my real wpm is probably around 91-92 based off of these.

10 fast fingers helps you practice quick key roll memorizations and burst rhythm..


typeracer helps you with some basic punctuation practice, and stream processing...


to type fast .... in the real world...   BOTH skill sets are required...

No Type Racer for me, the racing part is too abtrusive IMO.
Oh, and I like hi-games.net as well, because its quotes are quite funny and again, it records typing and I can go back to the mistakes I'd made.

you can get pretty fast speeds on typeracer too... just practice the same passage 3-4 times each time you play under "practice" mode... rather than racing..

the racing part doesn't really mean much... because the distribution statistics is already in place.. which means it's pointless to put yourself through it...  you already know exactly where you are with respect to other players, you don't need to race them to find that out...

TypeRacer is more accurate to showing your WPM in the "real world" because you type passages of text with full punctuation instead of a string of random (easy?) words which reoccur often.

Typeracer is generally more accurate, but there are pretty stupid passages with an overabundance of numbers. That, and the sometimes ridiculously inflated high scores (Jack getting >200 wpm, for instance, on a very short passage) which are completely inaccurate. While I feel 10FF is slightly inflated, it does help you type words very quickly, which is important for increasing speed overall, and it doesn't have a particularly wide range of results.

who cares...   You know when you made a mistake.. and  over 10 rounds.. if you feel you've made less mistakes than the last 10 rounds... hurray you've improved...

don't worry about stats...   Just hit the deck typing....

I just want to go back to that trigraph, focus on practicing it a bit... and the problem usually disappears.

in the txt box, the game doesn't let you advance unless you correctly type the word..

So you should know "relatively" over the course of a few runs.. how well you did...  how often you feel you got stuck up...

My point is... there are no consequences for making mistakes...  you should optimize all awareness towards getting more practice in, and doing it smoother and faster..

Which is why I find stats other than wpm, ultimately not terribly relevant..

I do both but the highest I've gotten on typeracer is 140 and it was a short easy passage. 10fastfinger is much easier.

um... yes this is true... but it's more of a process intended for complex tasks..   I don't feel typing is at all extensive enough such that you can make enormous procedural mistakes, where implementing numerous stop-gap error-learning methods would help greatly.

I don't see any significant difference between typing and say interpreting music. Anyway, it has worked for me (just an experiment resulting in a ~10 wpm gain).
