Favorite Trek Characters of GH
« on: Tue, 21 January 2014, 13:54:30 »
You can only pick 1...  From any series..

My fave was a tough choice between Lieutenant-Data and Quark

But in the end, I believe Quark to be the most entertaining character...

I like that one character... damn I forgot his name. He has that ability to close topics when people don't agree with his viewpoints.

Yeah, then we may have a Harry Kirk as captain. And a Mr. Potter as the scientific Vulcan.

it's ok..   Startrek Universe  99 out of 10 is possible through multidimensions

so.. however many dimensions there are.. you would just divide the choice beyond 10 into.

so if there were 10 dimensions.. it would be 10/10 for 9 of them.. and 9/10 for the last..

How is this even a discussion? There is only one logical answer.

As far as captains go, Jean-Luc has a certain continental flair, but I have to give that honor to Kirk, for all the alien booty he claimed in the name of good  interplanetary relations. Seems Kirk had his own private Prime Directive.

Even my 14-year-old son knows that the original Star Trek is the best.

Spock is the one and only.

Everybody else except for Kirk, Scott, and Troi are lame and worthless.

I concur..

but they did specifically specify several times that Riker was offered his own command to which he turned down to stay aboard the enterprise...

so in terms of rank specific to their competence ... they should be equivalent.

Why has no one mentioned any DS9 characters other than Worf and Quark? Even though DS9 moved slower then a Ferengi slug, I still thought Gul Dukat was a great villain.

But my favorite character from teh Star Treks is HORTA!  zomg so kewl.

They thought Horta hated the miners, but she was just pregnant.  Which Spock discovered with his Vulcan mind melt.

Spock, with Data as a close second.

Because logic.
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

CLiB comes and goes - he was very active when I joined, disappeared for a year or so, then came back only recently.

Now gone again?

MW probably chucked a hissy 'cause he couldn't create a poll :))

Spock, with Data as a close second.

I hate Data. And he was far worse after his emotions got partially activated (although I was pleased when he gave Yar a good pounding).

When they were dreaming up the next generation, they asked "How do we replace Spock?"

They used at least 4 characters: a second-in-command, a science officer, "the logical one", and a mind-reader, and still couldn't pull it off.

I consider the campy quirky side of Spock when he would succumb to his primitive emotions, fall in love, cry, or connect with hippies to be his greatest virtue.

Spock, with Data as a close second.

I hate Data. And he was far worse after his emotions got partially activated.

Mmmmmmmmmmm.....

Ohh....k............

That's a fine interpretation..

But honestly... It could also be that Spock was overpowered...  So splitting him up into different characters made more sense..

If you look at the TOS bridge...  Spock is soooo impressive in every respect that he could essentially replace everyone other than the captain..

He could easily replace the captain, also.
From the US Constitution, Article 1, Section 8 :

To provide for calling forth the Militia  to execute the Laws of the Union, suppress Insurrections and repel Invasions;
