Obviously you should organize a local meetup for dim sum :P.

There's a cool old opera house building in Boston's Chinatown, and it's a 2-floor Dim Sum establishment nowadays.  Like a million tables and servers going around with carts filled with little plates.  Much fun.  Although if you are by chance vegetarian, there is literally nothing to eat except steamed green vegetables and plain white rice.

take any of the chinese food you like... Throw some flour on it... deep fry...   That will approximate dim-sum.

My favourite thing when visiting my Dad in Guangzhou, you can have Dim Sum at midnight, its amazing, if you can somehow find a place that serves late Dim Sum over there do it, its almost as amazing as having McDonalds breakfast at 1AM.

Also I've never had a problem with vegetarians and Dim Sum... They usually have a decent vegetarian selection, though you sometimes have to order it separately so that might be the problem, but if your at a legit Chinese place just ask and they usually have tons of tofu disks and vegetable dishes to order and maybe even zhai (Chinese imitation meat stuff that actually tastes good, I'm a meat lover and I still eat it all the time).

(...)Whereas back then I wrote about the tyranny of the majority, today I'd combine that with the tyranny of the minorities. These days, you have to be careful of both. They both want to control you. The first group, by making you do the same thing over and over again. The second group is indicated by the letters I get from the Vassar girls who want me to put more women's lib in The Martian Chronicles, or from blacks who want more black people in Dandelion Wine.
I say to both bunches, Whether you're a majority or minority, bug off! To hell with anybody who wants to tell me what to write. Their society breaks down into subsections of minorities who then, in effect, burn books by banning them. All this political correctness that's rampant on campuses is b.s.

u probably shouldn't tell them that they prepare all the vegetarian stuff on the same grill and utensils

which means there's a great deal of animal fat in there despite being "vegetarian".

I guess? I've never really known any aggressive vegetarian/vegans so none of the ones I do know were really worried about cross contamination at the cooking stage.
