I feel like a grumpy old man, but it works
« on: Mon, 30 June 2014, 20:28:52 »
It's come to this: I have been blasting this at max volume out my window all day, and it's working. No noisy annoying children yelling, screaming, and throwing things at the apartment. :)
SUCCESS!

I haven't seen any kids playing outside for 4 summers already.

I wish they would play inside, I feel like I'm living in a South Indian daycare center (not trying to be racist, there just happen to be 4 Indian families with about 3-5 kids each in my building.) 6hrs a day, every day, even when it's raining. I can't wait to move out in August.

Imagine living every day of your life next to a children's birthday party. That's what it's like. Torture.

I can hear that sound - it would drive me crazy never mind the neighbours.

This would have been SOOO useful where I used to live.  Where I live now there is only one house that is excessively noisy, and I don't think they'd hear this anyway.
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

It just sounds like a mosquito. You mean that you can stop children playing just by playing this sound? It doesn't irritate me at all.

one o'clock in the night
rain
darkness
strident children voices outside
"Danya, mother****er! it hit the crossbar!"

but when i close my superior windows in my gorgeous empire era house, it all disappears.
(...)Whereas back then I wrote about the tyranny of the majority, today I'd combine that with the tyranny of the minorities. These days, you have to be careful of both. They both want to control you. The first group, by making you do the same thing over and over again. The second group is indicated by the letters I get from the Vassar girls who want me to put more women's lib in The Martian Chronicles, or from blacks who want more black people in Dandelion Wine.
I say to both bunches, Whether you're a majority or minority, bug off! To hell with anybody who wants to tell me what to write. Their society breaks down into subsections of minorities who then, in effect, burn books by banning them. All this political correctness that's rampant on campuses is b.s.

because you are an adult, i guess? human hearing changes over time. children and teenagers can hear irritating high-frequency sounds which adult can not.

Depending on how loud I play the hi-freq sound, it could become annoying...

The kids on my street are playing outside at any chance they get.  They are having way more fun than us grouchy adults.  I envy them.
Wish I had some gif or quote for this space, but I got nothing
