Post your "Proud Papa/Mama Moments"
« on: Wed, 16 July 2014, 05:58:38 »
So the other day I was taking the kiddos to school/daycare (5 year old son and 18 month old daughter) and I get back out to the car from dropping my daughter off and I see my son and it looks like he is playing the air guitar.  I get in and the song on the radio is "More Human than Human" by Rob Zombie.  This song is played in the end credits from the Pixar (i think) movie Planes.  I get in and this was the dialog.

me "Matthew, are you playing air guitar?"

Matthew "No."

me "Are you sure you aren't playing air guitar like daddy does?"

Matthew in a firm voice "No, I'm playing the drums."

but... but... you cross your hands when playing drums...
(...)Whereas back then I wrote about the tyranny of the majority, today I'd combine that with the tyranny of the minorities. These days, you have to be careful of both. They both want to control you. The first group, by making you do the same thing over and over again. The second group is indicated by the letters I get from the Vassar girls who want me to put more women's lib in The Martian Chronicles, or from blacks who want more black people in Dandelion Wine.
I say to both bunches, Whether you're a majority or minority, bug off! To hell with anybody who wants to tell me what to write. Their society breaks down into subsections of minorities who then, in effect, burn books by banning them. All this political correctness that's rampant on campuses is b.s.

Depends on what drums/cymbals you are currently beating on.

I always wonder  what percentage of -Parental Pride-  is hinged upon the fact that, NO, you can't return it to Amazon.

People invent reasons to LIKE the stuff they can't return.. simply to ease their cognitive dissonance...

Now multiply that by 1000, for kids,  which is essentially an expense of Years of their life, however much that would be worth on the market..

You obviously don't have kids.

Yes there some times when they really get on your nerves, but it is not as often as you think.

Mine turned 1 on the weekend and I'm still blown away with how fast he is growing up.

It is so fun to watch them learn things, like how to make new noises and how to walk and even feed themselves.

To keep the thread on topic; my son took his first steps without holding onto anything on Sat (the day before his first birthday).

My oldest daughter is done with her summer reading program and she did very well with it!

And the youngest is doing good with potty training.

to have kids, tp4 would need free sex with a woman.
that's not likely to happen.

This week my almost 3 years kid went to a fence, climb it a little, unlocked it and opened it. It was not mine since my fence is not complete yet, but I will damn remember to put the lock on top of it!!!

I used to feel this way years ago when I had a grow operation at my apartment in Colorado. Watching those beauty's grow and bud was like watching your children grow up and fulfill their potential.... and then smoking them. :))
