Edit: Someone will need to teach me how to put these url so we see the vid...

When you look at a video, click share and copy the shortened version of the link, that'll work for you.

Thx, now I got it, I have to paste the vid, select it and then hit the youtube button instead of simply adding the code manually.

I... don't get the appeal of Babymetal.

It's like the worst parts of J-pop and metal compressed into a **** sandwich and garnished with paedophilia.

It means you're implying Japanese lesbians don't like this too.

You know, I doubt people would be all up in arms about it if it wasn't for the choreography and how they dance to it.  There is nothing less metal than choreography...though I guess pop does contend since it's mainstream and sellouts while metal is supposed to be for the purist even though it's just as guilty as any other genre.

Yeah, there are poppy parts, but in many ways it's not a huge departure from some of the stuff that's happened in metal in the last 20 years or so.  Elements of it reminded me of Dragonforce

and I don't remember them being lambasted for being too poppy even though they were damn poppy.  Some of the vocals even remind me of symphonic metal.  And you know what, it's different, it's unorthodox, but, for some odd reason, it works and I find myself liking it even though I know I shouldn't.

I had a good lol. Sad that it's so brickwalled though. That's probably my least favourite part of modern japanese music

I'm as big a fan of gimicks in metal as the next guy. Sometimes the band has the talent to pull it off.
Whether it's a-capella metal (sweet, they have a new album coming out!)
or "blackjazz" metal with saxophone
or metal with everything.

It's all about the variety.

I think you nailed it.  Too much metal I've seen of late is cut from the same mold.  It's refreshing to see something so different that seems to have blended the genres well even if you don't like it.

They're not trashing metal at all btw

It's a jape at foreign people

The stereotype is that Americans only listen to JPOP and J-metal.
Wow I think that is the first time I've seen someone use the word jape outside of ASOIAF. Color me impressed

I'm feel soooo uncultured...   I heard Jape.. immediately thought of grape, then japan, then tentacle-grape, then r4p3, then Japan + r4p3 = Jape..

well.. now I know better.. thx

Hehe. While the girls are doing cat gestures and making cat-like gestures, the robed, masked guys in the back are mock-playing Shamisen - an instrument traditionally manufactured from cat skin ...
