I have an IBM Model M13 that I'd like to convert to USB. I tried the Adesso PS/2 Mouse & Keyboard to USB converter. It works great for the keyboard, but not for the mouse. Interestingly enough, the mouse shows up in the device list in Windows, but it doesn't work. My first thought is that the PS/2 Trackpoint isn't getting enough power to operate properly. The USB adapter is getting enough power to present a mouse to the computer (when the adapter is plugged in to the computer with nothing attached, Device Manager shows an additional keyboard and mouse).
I cracked open the Adesso Converter and the USB +5 V pin is passed-through to the PS/2 ports. So the 500 mA USB current is being shared by the keyboard, mouse, and adapter. I also see that the PS/2 mouse data lines are going into the IC (which is covered with a big black glob, so I can't tell what it is). From this, I suspect that the adapter is an "active" adapter (in that the mouse and keyboard signals are being read from the PS/2 lines, and written out the USB).
I'm going to try a Dual USB Male to Single USB Female adapter in an attempt to provide a full 1 amp. And hope that it works

Has anybody every gotten an IBM Model M13 trackpoint to work over USB?
Also, does anybody know to power requirements for the Trackpoint II? A MOG (Minute of Googling) reveals the the latest Trackpoints only require 25 mA peak, but I can't find what the PS/2 versions require.
Thanks.
