Tried Mechanical Keyboard for first time, disappointed.

I was searching for a mechanical kb. I was ready to spent a chunk of money, i was sure that browns would suit me best and i definitely have to have one. But i decided to try one first, went to local shop, tried logitech g710+ which has mx browns...

Well, that was a disappointment :/

The buttons felt stucky, like it has high friction. All of buttons were same. It just wasn't smooth. When you press the button, it should go right down to tactile zone, after tactile zone, it should go down smooth again. At least that is what i thought how it would be. Insteed it gone a bit, then a bit, then a bit... "stucky" i guess. Between those stucks, i couldn't even feel the tactile feedback. Damn, browns seemed perfect for me :/

Btw, it is very similar to the problem with mouse. When you start to move mouse at first, it doesn't go because of friction, then go more than you want, like that. Very annoying if you use high sens and try to make micro adjustments :/ (My new Avior 7000 arrived btw, gonna write my thougth about it)

I really hope that only the kb i tried is faulty. It is the only mechanical kb in local stores as far as i know. The only one

My KBT Race S with browns does not feel sticky, so your G710 must have had something wrong with the switches. I can feel a little bit of scratchiness when depressing my browns, but it doesn't catch anything or feel as though there's stickiness. It goes down, gives the tactile bump, and then continues down to bottoming out and returns smoothly.

Different switches are different. The Cherry MX Brown switch (which is in the G710) does not have that much tactile feedback, really. Maybe some other mechanical switch would suit you better. Have you tried Blues? They feel almost like browns, but definitely more tactile ... and they do also make the "click" sound.

All mechanical keyboards have some friction. Some people think that they need to be broken in to be less frictiony. BTW, The Logitech G710 has also rubber O-rings installed to dampen the stroke when you bottom out. Those are removable, and vice versa: you could install O-rings into another mechanical keyboard that does not have them.

I suggest trying a different keyboard before you make your final decision. The G-710+ comes with factory installed rubber o-rings. I don't much care for o-rings on MX boards. Sounds like you were expecting a switch that didn't turn to much at the bottom of the stroke, and that will be the result of the O-rings.

I have tried typing on the G710+ at my local Best Buy. It does not represent the MX Browns in its true original form.
I suggest you try another board with MX Browns that have no o-rings on them.

Most stores won't let you pull keycaps off a board and remove parts...

Browns without orings are quite nice. It takes a while for them to wear in, though. I much prefer 62g ErgoClears, but even stock Clears are better than Browns.

Also, the G710+ is way too big for me. TKL is the smallest I can go. I play a number of games and although I used to think I needed macro keys, it turns out I don't. I bind Ctrl and Alt + keys around my movement keys for lots of extra functions without needing to move my hand.

If the G710+ is the only way you have to see what mechanical boards feel like, you won't get a great overview. Maybe there's a GH member who lives close by and can let you try something else.

Well, the problem is that Cherry MX switches (and most alikes) are scratchy, need to break in to become smoother and you have to get used to them.

It's like with good quality audio. Even if break in doesn't exist in case of headphones, your ears&brain need some time to get used to the specific sound signature.

Also, if you didn't like browns on one new gaming keyboard with ****ty keycaps, it doesn't mean no mechanical keyboard is for you. Buckling springs, linear switches or some Alps flavors are completely different, not to mention different kinds of keycaps (thick, various profiles and materials).

I would try a different store, find a keyboard without o-rings, or try blacks or reds, as other have said that would be a linear response. The tactile response just might not be something you care for.

G710+ came with o-ring straight out of the box.

Yes I'd also suggest you take out o-ring, o-ring changes the feel a lot.

Search o-ring video on youtube and you'll see how it can be removed.

I absolutely hated browns when I got my first mech keyboard. Sold it fairly shortly after and bought blues but those were too loud for my friends to handle while chatting

The Logitech G710+ is the WORST keyboard I've ever had the displeasure of typing on. Don't let it scare you away from other mechanical keyboards. It has o-rings and unlubed modern browns, very bad combo.

Maybe try some mx blues instead?

I love brown switches, but not with o-rings - I used them for a bit but I had to take them off. I have two boards with browns, and the brown switches on my Ducky Shine II seem noticeably smoother than the ones on my QuickFire Rapid. I still like them both though, but I currently use my QFR for the TKL form factor. 
If you can't find any other board with different switches to try, I would recommend purchasing a switch tester to see whether you prefer tactile or linear switches more. It's no substitute for testing out a full keyboard, but it's better than nothing, and it will give you an idea of what to expect.

Get The One True Keyboard instead.

If for some reason it's gotta be MX Cherry then you could try vintage browns instead. Personally I more or less use anything but, because I don't like them much either.

Try a variety.

You can't really know what you like best until you have been at least part-way through the spectrum.

At the minimum you have to try heavy and light, tactile and linear. MX brown might be the sweet spot in the middle or the dead zone, but they are surely not representative of anything strong.

And there is nothing as "satisfying" as buckling springs, whether you end up there or not.
