Hrrmmm...  the only one recently  had been Mama 2013..

The omen series, and xorcist were kinda scary... but you've probably seen them by now...

i don't think scary movies are popular anymore because modern kids have so much video game experience, monsters are completely normal and tame to them.

Cabin in the Woods.

I didn't find it at all scary, but the concept was really cool and it was a solid fun movie.

it was an awesome movie. don't think it was suppose to be scary at all though, more a tribute to scary movies/movies about monsters.

My mistake - it was not scary. I kind of lump scary/horror/slasher/thriller all together in my head.

I've honestly never found a legitimately scary film. If you do, let me know.

I saw Insidious recently. I liked it. There was some decent shock value, but it wasn't all that scary upfront, IMO. Although, it did kind of get in my head later on lol

I was really enjoying the movie up until they decided that the kid is actually a demigod from an alternate dimension but only when he's sleeping, and a bunch of cross dimensional serial killers are trying to steal his infinite power. Or whatever the hell happened, it's been a while.
It's like the script wriiters just decided to drop acid 2/3 of the way through their writing session. It's bat**** insane. :))

Trick'R'Treat is a favorite. It harkens back to the days of Creepshow with its multiple stories, but also adds in the fact that the stories intertwine with each other.

Darkness Falls is another favorite, and one of the most underrated horror movies on film.

"Home movies" is one of the creepiest i have seen in a long time

both "VHS" and the "Rec" series are worth watching.

"Suicide club" is worth a watch, with some serious chills factor.

"Black rat" will probably make you jump and has an interesting story

The first Paranormal Activity was pretty scurry, I thought.
I also got creeped out by The Poughkeepsie Tapes.

Many of these movies scare me simply by being blurry and low resolution..

HD definitely takes away from the scare-factor given the low budget bracket of horror.

I heard sinister was pretty much the only scary one in like 4 years.

I'm going to say the the only movie to come close for me was The Blair Witch Project. It wasn't like OMG I can't sleep for a week, but it was tense and really well done, especially for the time.
