Aliens.. a theoriis Tp4
« on: Fri, 20 February 2015, 10:48:35 »
So Here's why they wouldn't attack us...

To generate and store enough energy to "cross" the cosmos, even to the nearest M-Class..

We can assume Alien-dudes are Completely set in terms of natural resources..

They wouldn't bother coming to our planet, because the only resource unique to earth is possibly the mildly-sentient humans,   and we are very bad for labor vs ROBOTS,  which the aliens could power with their near-unlimited Energy..

And because these aliens are smarter than us, based on their technological premise, they sure as hell wouldn't want dum-dum humans for brain work..

We already know that the "natural resources" as we know it "the elements" are in abundance in the universe..

And if the Aliens had the Energy prowess, they could just make whatever they need @ home much more efficiently, without having to come to earth and violently take it from us and then ship it all the way back to their planet..

Here's an analogy.. (Rewritten for clarity)

The aliens are Wealthy Adults living in Maine

The earthlings are children with icecream cones living in California

Why would the Wealthy Adult drive all the way to California just to take icecream cones from us earthlings..

The cost of the trip GREATLY exceed the resources necessary to purchase or even PRODUCE the icecream at home.

That's not really a problem...  how many of us do they really need.. 10,  maybe 100,000..

Here's a good analogy..

The aliens are adults with money..

Eartlings are children who lives in the next state who happen to have an icecream cone.

Nah, worse. If aliens are adults and had the technology to travel here, we couldn't even be considered kids compared to them. We'd be zoo animals... or insects.

Well, I'd say we're slightly more advanced than insects..  but i suppose relative to Space faring aliens..   that analogy would be suitable.

To stock their zoos?
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

This is highly unlikely..

Given their level of technology..

If these aliens decided to "Watch Us"

They could easily do it Discovery Channel style..

Even if they needed some live humans for a "zoo"   it would be so few that we wouldn't notice...

You know how they got animals-romancing on animal planet.. unless the aliens are humanoid, I doubt they'd be perving on us,  it'd be more similar to watching animal planet.

if every ice cream cone cost $0.01  , that is still $10,000,000,000 you've spent stealing a $0.01 cone..

EVEN if we assume the Free-Energy made the Aliens bat-**** crazy, and completely irrational..

They'd be far more a danger to themselves than us, given our distance gap...

So, the odds of them destroying themselves before getting on to Kill Us is significantly greater..

Oh that's ok, I'd drive a hybrid and use a warp drive to fold space and essentially "pass over" the distance.

It'd be like going down the street to steal your ice cream cone. Which I would totally do.

That's just in the movies..  If you had warp drives..  You'd have much better things to do than step on ants..

The only reason kids do it, is because they're bored and don't have xbox..

The aliens would probably have xbox ontop of warp drive.. warp xbox

Walk over because we had to get to some where...

And you're neglecting SCALE..

2 entire galaxies can collide and NONE (ZERO) of the stars would touch..

That is how much empty space there is between us all..

It's not the case of walking over ants..

Valid points, but what if they only came here to exterminate us.  It's like when you see a few ants starting to make their way through a gap in a window or door, you kill said ants and fill the gap before they become a problem.  Well with us as a species starting to make our way off this tiny rock they could consider us a possible threat in the future and decide to stop us before we become a problem.

I don't see how they'd consider us a threat if they are "better than us" to begin with..

A major catastrophe must befall them for us to even catch up..

Their growth must stop, which would indicate a problem far worse than competitive pressure from worlds away.

Or they read your posts like this and assume all humans are alike. I can see how that would justify extermination based on that misunderstanding alone.

I don't understand why they would have to suffer some major setback or catastrophe for us to be a threat,  just human nature could be considered a threat the way we destroy everything around us, and just because we are not currently a threat doesn't mean we wouldn't be farther down the line of evolution.

This place here in the Cosmos represents a lot of FREE meat for interstellar Carnivores.  Seven billion meat puppets offers a lot of nutrition and possible expansion for any toughened species, like Ripley's famous Aliens  8) .

Waiting for the FIRST face huggers to appear then you'll know it's time for some serious hunting to occur.  Damn that would piss me off like nothing else, heading down to my local stores to find almost no one there to serve you, plus the nights can get hairy as the new inhabitants start their scavenging for new meat-puppet incubators  :thumb: .

One thing for sure, boring wouldn't exist anymore and forget about watching anymore tedious Zombie Flicks when these beggars turn up, I know a place here that sells 918 Porsches definitely will get a couple once they sort out the sales people  ;) .

Because improvements and spread of population is exponential.

First to market with warp drive will conquer the known universe..

We will be relegated to peasants for LIFE unless a great tragedy befalls them..

Look at our attitude towards lower animals....

The few hippie conservationists aliens might preserve a sample of humans.   but it's highly unlikely that once they achieve dominion of space, that we'd be able to "Converge"

Because improvements and spread of population is exponential.

Your assumption, you have no facts to support this.

First to market with warp drive will conquer the known universe..

The ability to move from point A to point B in such a manner would only allow for faster travel in a few directions. Said race would reach a location sooner perhaps, but not necessarily be able to "conquer" it.

Look at our attitude towards lower animals....

The few hippie conservationists aliens might preserve a sample of humans.   but it's highly unlikely that once they achieve dominion of space, that we'd be able to "Converge"

You're attributing human tendencies to an unknown race. That's like saying that oranges prefer to hunt at night; they don't and that's nonsense. The same can be said for your entire argument.

Not an assumption.. growth rate is always exponential when travel cost is minimized..

Confounding factors exist,  but the concept is only that warp drive will be a major head start towards the rest of the universe..

it's not a human attitude I've attributed to aliens..

I am applying relative perceptions..

Humans wouldn't need to decide for very long to eliminate bacteria if it got in the way..

Assuming the Aliens got warp first..  it will be very quick before we become merely bacteria to them..

Now as for the issue of,, would they decide to actively harm us for no purpose....

Hrrm... Life in this universe as defined "is" a selfish preservation..

We can say that perhaps to reach warp-tech we'd have many inner battles to win before being able to conceive of the collective-investment required to develop such complicated technology..

The intra-species communication costs is currently too high..

It's very unlikely that as we are, we'd be able to coordinate efforts for those large undertakings.

I think our transcendence into a machine race like the borg is far more likely to occur Prior to developing warp.

IMO it's hard to have any where close to an idea of an aliens race's intentions, because all we have is a very limited perspective based on one tiny rocky planet.  I'm basing my perspective on human history, any time an advanced culture comes into contact with one that is less developed scientifically we tend to exploit and destroy,  so regardless of how an advanced race sees us wouldn't it be in the interest of their society to eliminate us before we spread through the cosmos like a flesh eating bacteria. In the end though space is incomparably vast and we could survive for eon's with out ever even realizing that their is another species out their and vice versa,  like an ant in america never knowing that their is an ant in china.

To what end do you claim victory? Do you refer to your baseless assumptions regarding a race that has hitherto been neither encountered nor studied?

If you view your statements of opinion as fact without any burden of proof or scientific knowledge, then yes you may consider yourself victorious.

It takes a very small and pathetic little man to believe that spewing out sentence fragments, incomplete thoughts, and biased opinions based on emotional human response, as fact or even a valid theory is acceptable or courageous. If this topic and the presumptions you have chosen to blindly cling to are a criteria in your personal measurement of success or personal victory, then I truly do pity you. In fact, should your blind disbelief in your own ignorance mean so much to you, then I would gladly concede defeat, if only to save you the apparent agony that reason and logic would impose on you. I would not be so cruel as to force rational thought on so feeble a mind.

Please by all means, continue with your "tin foil hat" suppositions, your baseless attribution of your opinions as fact, and your unrelenting willingness to cling to your fantastical delusions.

Your comic book mythos awaits you, you sad, sad little man.

Correct, scale is a huge issue..  it would depend on which sci-fi warp we're talking about..

The issue of projecting their behavior..

I've only made  the general statement that they wouldn't attack us for no damn reason..

Or rather, they wouldn't attack us for any "earthly" reasons.. such as for resource/labor/entertainment

Is it still possible that they just steam roll us without knowing..

Let's say they have some sort of hypergate..  which is transported via some sort of planetary sized-pod device..

That thing might just roll right through destroying millions of planets as it gets to where-ever they were sending it.

--  Now, humans still operate under the guidance of How-and-Why..

if you're thinking, what if aliens don't operate under those limitations.... well then we can't talk about that,  because they'd have a mechanism for agency that we can not understand..

--  As for eradication of humans, BEFORE we get out of control... um...  that's certainly relevant for an alien race "CLOSE BY"  that maybe perhaps JUST invented warp..

--  But if they had warp, even for 1000 years..  they would've already occupied so much more space, that we'd pose little threat entering the game late..

So you can neither disprove nor comprehend my impeccable logic..

And so you've resorted to name-calling as your way out on the "last word"..

Congratulations.. n00b..

tp4tissue I must apologize, I incorrectly assumed that you understood that logic is fact-based and not a constant stream of unrelated and poorly structured nonsense. I am sorry if I hurt your feelings assuming that, I guess it's true what they say about when you assume.

Nevertheless the burden of proof lies on you to support your opinions. Every single attribution of a human tendency to a non-human entity is flawed. Your statements about this unknown race and their motivations completely discount any unknown cultural motivations said race may have.

With regard to name calling, I'm sorry if you interpreted my view of you as name calling. You are a sad little man in my eyes, that is not a universal label, just my own limited view. Though I believe I would be justified in pointing out that you chose to refer to me as a n00b prior to my response.

I'm sorry that you are so foolish as to delude yourself so thoroughly. If this is what you consider a worthwhile debate, you must have a very poor representation of peers with which to discuss any sort of philosophical or scientific point.

I maintain that you are so far outwitted, belligerent, and ignorant that you should just cut your losses and calm down.

Best,

LOL... you take the world so seriously, and believe in a dichotomy of fools and princes.

I only need fragments to dispatch your "lucid" structure..

Why?

Because you are ignorant of irrelevance..

I am a Quality Engineer, I live my life working in gray areas. There is very little black and white in this world, but know that you are an ignorant fool. I should hope that would help you wake up and improve yourself.

I'm sorry but no, I am not ignorant of irrelevance. I am ignorant of many things, but irrelevance as you have stated is not one of those. I am quite aware and oft reminded of the irrelevance of your replies, posts, and postulations of opinion as fact when I frequent these forums.

You seem like you need a hug and to be told everything will be ok. I'm sorry to tell you this, but it won't be. Your attitude and attention seeking foolishness and your braggart inclinations towards needing to win small, self fulfilling victories will leave you a truly pitiable person.

You are projecting your own feelings and inadequacies onto other people..

This, need a hug, who's pitiable, victories, defeat..

I know precisely what you're getting at and why you're trying to get at it..

You're looking for some sort of affirmation be it by someone here, or your invisible buddy telling you it's all ok..

Recognize that it is all ok, and you needn't be a **** to other people to get noticed.

As to your dead end job which you secretly h8 and want to kill yourself,  well most of us work at them..

I just don't like one person spreading ignorant thought as you so frequently do. It's not even the content so much as it is the way you think. Who you represent as a person is disgusting and distasteful to most anyone who would consider themselves educated, logical, or scientifically minded.

With regards to the terms defeat and victory, I took them from your own statements. You declared victory, not I. Your desire to be victorious in such a small-minded matter is one of the things I find pitiable about you.

With respect to my career, I quite enjoy it. I mentioned it simply to provide you with much needed perspective. Though I would caution you regarding reference to anyone killing themselves, that's usually a sensitive subject for many. I can't say that I am shocked by your resorting to such immature and senseless retaliatory behavior, you seem like the backwards kind of simpleton that would think that is acceptable.

Please feel free to use our exchanges as a learning experience, if only to expand your own vocabulary at minimum. I cringe to see anyone knowingly type "h8". It's so sad.

HAhahahahahhaha...

You are so high and mighty..  LOL.. I've not yet met anyone who's so sn00ty on the internet yet remain unabashed..

Perhaps one day you'll begin to read between the lines..

How you see me now is due to your own shortcoming in processing higher level information..

You see a path and you choose..  but your entire development has stopped there..

In many ways you see the world as children do..
