If we look at your replies..  all of it leads to this revenge post dynamic.. Perhaps you've lived too often or too long under a command structure that it has

I think perhaps my previous assertion of invasion had been predicated on the necessity to occupy more space as a species grew..

But when I think back,  if the aliens started in biological shells as humans.. they would also need to transcend into a more durable existence..

If they eventually took the route to become a large sentient machine.. perhaps occupying space wouldn't be a motivation for them, because they'd have to continuously overcome latency of their own thought..


Now this is assuming they transcended PRIOR to achieving warp-tech..

They would probably try to compress space locally to overcome latency issues due to ever-growing distance between sentient nodes..

so, in this case, they may again try to get larger..

Well last time they probed earth, they took the wrong guy, in fact no one knows but the guy is a hero, that man saved the earth.
They needed to know if humans can be a menace and what to do with earth.
So they caught one human, but they got this guy who was on booze 26 hours a day and started to study him.
Problem was the man had so much alcool in his blood, they thought humans were living on alcool.
So they gave him whisky at every lunch and put him in their zoo as "most useless and inefficient species ever met" for alien children edification.
