Are you a dunker?
« on: Mon, 09 March 2015, 19:21:55 »
So recently I've really gotten into dipping doughnuts in coffee. I've never been much of a doughnut man, too sweet and bready. Always been more of an ice cream guy myself.

But something miraculous happens when you dunk your doughnut in coffee. Something glorious that unlocks the doughnuts hidden potential, transforming it into a moistened treat of incredible taste prowess.

Sure you wind up with a bunch of crumbs floating in the ends of your cuppa, but just think of that as the sweetened remains of milk after a surgery bowl of cereal.

I prefer to dunk my doughnuts in milk.

I drink my coffee black and don't want no crumbs ruining the taste!

Nope.  Always separate.  I don't even dunk biscuits!
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

back in the soviet days and the following rubbish epoch, i used to dunk dried crust into sweetened tea.
(...)Whereas back then I wrote about the tyranny of the majority, today I'd combine that with the tyranny of the minorities. These days, you have to be careful of both. They both want to control you. The first group, by making you do the same thing over and over again. The second group is indicated by the letters I get from the Vassar girls who want me to put more women's lib in The Martian Chronicles, or from blacks who want more black people in Dandelion Wine.
I say to both bunches, Whether you're a majority or minority, bug off! To hell with anybody who wants to tell me what to write. Their society breaks down into subsections of minorities who then, in effect, burn books by banning them. All this political correctness that's rampant on campuses is b.s.

I drink coffee black, no sugar, no cream, and I don't dunk my donuts. But they are a really great pair, almost as great as coffee and a good scone.

I don't have donuts more than like... once or twice per year usually? not often anyway.
but this seems pretty cool, definitely going to have to try it out. they are indeed usually too sweet.

Never got into dunking my doughnuts in coffee.  But a chocolate shop around me, used to have dark chocolate covered espresso soaked tiramisu twinkies.  They were $8 a piece, but I would probably have payed $20.  Those things were just amazing.

What is this witchcraft! Also I feel like this may be one of the key issues with my generation, I guess we can't even dip an Oreo properly.

Best oreo you have to make.  Get a package of the lemon ones, and a package of the lime ones.  Take one of each, pull one cookie of one, and reassemble big mac style, enjoy.

I haven't used one of these myself, seems like it would waste time that could be spent dunking the next oreo.. I just grab 2 oreos, hold them together, and dunk

I'm more of a split the oreo (perfectly every time  :p), then dunk the half without filling, eat it, and then eat the half with filling without dunking it, finish with a healthy gulp of milk.

Agreed. When I eat Oreo's I do away with one of the cookie sides. It's just too much cookie, I need a better crunch to frosting ratio to properly appreciate what an Oreo has to offer.

They are however splendid dipped in milk.

Sometimes I like to get about 4 or 5 of them and lay them on top of one another in a mug of milk, then drown them with a heavy spoon on top till I finish the milk and am left with a soggy, sugary treat at the bottom   ^-^

:)) I have a friend who does that with every cookie, I'm sure it's great but I enjoy the act of eating a cookie with my hands.

I like to dunk. It is not fika without something to dunk. It tends to be mostly digestive biscuits though.

I also like to dunk marmalade toast in tea. I don't dunk puff pastry though.

I'll dunk pretty much anything. Chocolate biscuits of any kind, those stroop waffle things. I don't really eat donuts, so I've not tried dunking them, but I'm open to their dunkability.

I love my coffee so much I don't wanna ruin the taste of it by dunking

But I do take a sip after each sweet bite

Not sure if it's the same thing, i might need to clarify.

I take a bite of the donut and while the donut is still in the mouth i drink some coffee to mix it while it's in my mouth. Although i do love my coffee, i just make enough to have with both my donut and by itself lol
