Asking the unreal questions

Like, four boards in one of each type?

Phantom TKL (or a Korean TKL board?) with 50 or 55g lubed MX blacks, 45g Topre RealForce 87U, GON 60% (or JD45, when that happens?) with lubed 62g ergo clears, and IBM Model M SSK or Model F 104 key.

What would you choose Nikelu?

Boards:
Silver 84-key KMAC LE, 62g lubed & stickered ergo-clears, GON NerD PCB, polycarbonate plate,MX lock/Phosphorglow IBM Model M SSK 1391472/White HHKB Pro 2, Hasu controller/WKL Phantom, 50g vintage blacks, MX lock
Leeku G80-1800 (build in progress)

Well, I hate linear so I'm going to take that out of the equation.

Topre - RF 87U 55g.
Tactile - 62g ergo clear GON NeRD TKL
Clicky - Industrial SSK
Can we get them to build the Alps ten feet higher and get Cherry to pay for it?

Boo linear.  I will take 2x 4704 IBM F keyboards.  1x F122 keyboard.  1x Unicomp Model M keyboard.  Thankfully the world isn't 100% cruel and I can have 10000 keyboards if I really wanted.

Linear - TX1800 with Gateron Clears
Topre - Toss up between my HHKB Type-S and my Digilog RF87U 55g Uniform Type-S
Tactile - KMAC Happy w/ built-in blockers with 62g Ergo-Clears
Clicky - Model M

Linear- Filco MJ2 with lubed Gaterons, 72g springs, and GMK Dolch (I'll have this completed when the switches arrive)
Tactile- Beige Filco with Ergo-Clears (62g) and GMK beige
Topre- 55g modded FC660C (hopefully one day with double-shot keys from Bunny's upcoming store, if not I'd nova mod it and put on moar GMK)
Clicky- That's that **** I don't like

These three boards are my endgame. I'm about to have the linear completed, I have the 87u for donor domes, and I doubt that I'll have the spare $ for a Filco with Ergo-Clears and GMK caps for a long, long time.

Linear: has to be hall effect switches, linear space invaders, or maybe green alps. I think the place where I most would want a linear switch would be some kind of music input keyboard with analog sensors for each key.

Topre: Topre switches are totally uninspiring, and I wouldn’t want to actually use one on a regular basis. The μTron is basically the only Topre keyboard that is interesting to me, but not very practical for someone who doesn’t have tiny hands. It’s really silly to make this a separate category, since Topre switches clearly fall into the “tactile” section.

Clicky: tough call. Between blue Alps, Model F, Alps plate spring, Marquardt “butterfly” plate spring, etc., it’s hard to pick just one. To be honest I’d give up all the other categories and just go for 4 different clicky boards.

Tactile: if it’s just one board, it probably to be orange Alps. But a very portable folding lubed Cherry ML board could also be pretty fun.

If you could have 4 girlfriends what ethnicity would they be and how big would their busts be?

Azn, 32B
African, 38C
Northen European, 40DD
Hispanic, 36B

Clicky - some sort of Model M (because Model F's are fugly)

You made Bertha cry. Apologize.

As to my list:

Linear: No. I guess my board with Gateron Clears, because it exists and gets used sometimes for gaming when I'm tired from heavier switches.
Topre: I am not part of the cult, but Realforce HiPro has cool-looking keys.
Tactile: GON NerD 108, sky blue non-glare, side white LEDs, sky blue in-switch LEDs, MX Clears, we'll say stock for now because I've never felt ergo clears so for all I know I hate them. Sky blue keycaps with a couple of sky blue and/or silver artisans.
Clicky: I already own Bertha. She is my one true love. (Bertha being my Model F, not my Monoprice, since those are both clicky and not everyone is going to get 'Big Bertha' as a reference to the hueg liek xbox of the F 107. My monoprice is half-disassembled on my floor because I'm too lazy to finish cleaning it.)
- IBM 4704 Model F 107-key "Bertha"
Other boards: Kinesis Essential, Infinity(G.Clears), Ergodox(MX Blues), Monoprice 9433

Eternally searching for Celestial Blue BS V2 and blue/purple Bros.

Four girlfriends at once sounds like a pretty huge time commitment, and lots of drama. Even dating two people at once takes a lot of time and effort. Also, ethnicity and bust size are among the least useful criteria for picking a good girlfriend. I recommend you just try to find one girl who is kind, shares your cultural values, is clever, and makes you laugh (in that order), and don’t worry too much about her bust size.

In keyboard terms, this is sort of like asking: if you could design and build 4 custom ergonomic keyboards from scratch, what font would their keycaps have?

Fair enough but I'm just saying since you're going to be having 4 gfs you can try out more different flavors and cones.

and you need a deep wallet with lots of credit cards to have 4, let alone 2

anyway, I dunno what's Linear/Topre/Tactile
Clicky is the only way, though I've a vintage blacks board coming. What am I doing.....

Um..

Tactile: DIY ergo board with stickered, lubed, trampoline modded, latex modded, worn-in 62g ErgoClears.

And that's it I guess. No interest in Topre, Linear or Clicky any more, just as I'm not interested in stock boards sold by any brand any more either.
Buying more keycaps,
it really hacks my wallet,
but I must have them.

Linear - Red Cherry MX, Corsair K65 (grudgingly, due to the light bleed and uneven legend illumination).

Topre - RealForce 87U, 55g

Tactile - Matias Mini Quiet Pro, or the upcoming Matias 60%

Clicky - Blue Cherry MX. Any quality keyboard will do. Or, the upcoming Unicomp SSK.

funnily enough, I don't want to go for standard production keyboards anymore.

I just want GH36, Acidfire's keyboard, maybe something purely custom made, and one of these days I will finish my Hengyu pair and submit that for Keyboard of the Month.

Topre - HHKB Type-S

Tactile - toss up between lubed 67g Ergo Clears, Orange Alps, and Brown Alps.  Again on the 60% PCB coming my way.

Clicky - I hate clicky, but if I had to take some, it would be click modded Orange Alps on a 60% or a Model F AT.

They're all boards I plan to own, hell I'm currently waiting on parts for one of them and I already own a 55g HHKB.

Swapping an HHKB to 55g AMD getting Novatouch sliders is easy. It'd allow GMK on my 55g which would be awesome.

I though it wasn't doable to change the weightning of the novatouch sliders, but now if 55 Novatouch is doable I'm in big trouble.

The slider is just the stem piece, you change the weight by swapping in 55g domes from an RF 87U.

If we are looking at stuff in our dreams made of pure unobtainium... Then with my current knowledge that would be...
Linear= Fullsize Black Filco Majestouch 2 Convertible with Blue Backlighting, Plate Mounted Barely-Lubed Cherry MX Reds, 50-55g Springs with Costar Stabilizers, Pure White PBT Front-Printed Keycaps with seperate thin Yellow LEDs on the middle-top-back-side-corner of the Keycaps.
Tactile= Same except with Cherry MX Browns, 60g Springs with Costar Stabilizers
Clicky= Cherry MX Greens, 60g Springs with Costar Stabilizers

But that's talking about a Mithril, Orichalcum, Adamantium Unobtainium HyperAlloy-infused-with-the-Philosopher's Stone-Quenched-and-Forged-in-the-Blood-of-Jesus-crafted-with-the-paradoxical-spear-and-shield-in_the-Holy-Grail-by-God-Himself-which-slayed-The-Devil-and-left-in-a-particle-accelerator-just-for-you-Katana piece of equipment... Or simply something that would either not happen or you'd have to custom make one or watch it fall from the sky.

You should really try some non-MX switches sometime (e.g. Alps, Hi-Tek, SMK, IBM, ...), it might blow your mind. :-)

Probably real proletarian choices, but:

• Any decent 104 with Cherry MX Blacks

• Realforce 104UG (yeah baby!)

• I dunno, surprise me (they're all fun, but I'm into not bottoming out anyway, generally)

• A nice cleaned-up Model M (or layout-modded F, but then I'll probably never be seen in public again)
