Like,

Warning spoilers

Assuming Carnegie (the main villain) didn't die from the leg-infection,   couldn't he have easily figured out how to read braille ?

I mean,  first you find the most common letter,   E..

Then you got the most common word,   THE,   and it should be pretty  damn straight forward.. from there....

And I kindof thought he wanted it just to possess it, not to actually read it. But then the twist you speak of...

Also, the plot doesn't make any sense..

They were holed up for "1 year"

That's not the end of humanity really..

I mean,, does EVERYONE go dumb in 1 year..

Social structures might break down,  but people don't suddenly go stupid..

Given knowledge,  rebuilding should be a piece of cake,  even with a 99% decrease in population.

Yeah, it's fun to watch it again, just to see how you pick up on little clues after you know the secret. :)

Forget the fact, that if that book really was in braille, it would be MUCH larger than portrayed in the movie.  I like to think that was just one of the volumes he was carrying, having already memorized the rest.
