Naaaaah, we aren't that weird. I mean, they bring laundry for other guys to wash for them. And you can't bring a washing machine to a meet =/
Can we get them to build the Alps ten feet higher and get Cherry to pay for it?

Two questions and one fact:

1) Why are men doing laundry?

2) Why aren't women doing the laundry?

3) Now I know what Ripster's new hobby is.

1) Why are men doing laundry?
Because they live in the 21st century?

Because to be able to be sure that you have clean clothes when you need it, cleaned the right way, you'd better do it yourself?
Back when I was in my early teens and my mom still did my laundry, I once stayed home from school because I did not have any clean underwear. From that day on, I did my own laundry ... but I did accept help.
Some time after, my mom though she was helpful and booked the apartment block's laundry room for me ... on the 31st of February.

Another thing I have seen is men collecting vintage airline stewardess uniforms. That can be just as serious as any other, some collectors even consulting and lending uniforms to airlines official museums ... but it still comes off as somewhat of a fetish.

I could see collecting vintage washing machines as having a hint of fetishism, but it is a bit more far-fetched.
I could see engineers of washing machines reminiscing about old designs that they once worked on or were inspired by.

With my collecting of keyboards, that is mostly because of the creative engineer in me. I want to create new keyboards, and to do that I think that I should first learn from old ones. Therefore I have keyboards of various vintage switches and some different ergonomic keyboards - except for one or two that are just good-looking.

Aside from the oddly camp tone of the whole video, I can appreciate the washing machine thing. They are big, have motors, some of them date back to the fifties and look retro.

But yeah, I would class washing machine collecting and keyboards in roughly the same direction. Keyboards are cheaper and smaller. We probably try to tell ourselves that keyboards are cooler because they are 'tech'.
