So....

Can someone tell me why  an adapter with FGPA circuit is more expensive than one with an off the shelf chip like Oxford PCIe952

the FGPA one costs 2x as much..  But I honestly have no idea why.. it may just be a new product..

Is this a usb to serial (db9) adapter? The cheap adapters suck with putty/console but I'm not sure what you're using it for..

i need to communicate with a fanuc.

it's an expresscard adapter,  not usb.

Why not just carry the one that DOES work with NT 6.1+?

In my mind my sentence made sense.

One cable works 6.1 and up but does not work 6.0 and down.

Hence two.

ExpressCard seems overkill for this application.

I haven't used anything requiring RS-232 in ages, but seems like a USB adapter would be cheaper/easier. Any particular reason you're looking at ExpressCard?

I'm guessing the price difference is likely due to demand. There's probably a lot less demand for the adapter with the FPGA circuit.
