Melbourne, Australia Meetup?
« on: Tue, 15 December 2015, 23:23:36 »
Would anyone be interested in a Melbourne meetup?

If we get interest I will find a place (good food, drinks, quiet enough to chat etc.) :)

Oh :(

Well hmm, what's the minimum requirement for a gathering these days?

I'd say >=4? :D

Would anyone from Sydney be interested in coming down?

The last was last year, don't think I will in the near future especially with having a newborn very soon

Was thinking it would be pretty casual

Not sure how willing to travel most members are - seems unlikely just for keyboards lol

In my experience in trying to get the UK one setup it's hard to get people to travel long distances unless something big is happening

If anyone in Syd wants to do a meetup or if people are visiting interstate or internationally I'm down to grab beers

Sydney and Perth seem to have the most members down here.
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

It depends how it's cooked, but usually tougher than a medium-rare steak.

It's tasty though...sacrilege to eat the pride and joy of the country though, so don't have it often  :-[

bit more tenderer than venison, but has a very rich/strong taste

I'll be in town soon but I'm not sure I'll have the chance to hang out with anyone. If that changes, I'll post here. Should be there during the 2nd and 3rd week of January 2016.

I usually visit the Botany area (stay in Coogee) so hopefully can swing past when I'm down next year.

I used to study in Perth and that city is so ****ty compared to Melbourne and Sydney lol.

Visited Melb and Syd for the first time in 10 or so years last June and boy it's so much different now. I love Syd but my wife loves Melb more cause it's more chill and it has lots of coffee shop.

Gonna visit again next June/July and hope I can meet some of you aussies :D

Haha spot on about Perth, it's nice to visit and have lovely beaches but not my kind of place to live.

Melbourne is great and chilled, and Sydney more chaotic but both have their goods and bads!

Hit me up anytime I'll be happy to catch up and show you 'round!  :thumb:
