Yeah I've spent all these 10's of thousands and still don't have any friends. But at least I can pretend I do when I have a hot item for sale and get lots of PM's.

I could have acquired two new computers, reasonably specced, instead of the collection of keyboards and keycaps I have.
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

I think it's only expensive because we're poor to begin with..

There are so many things people hobbi-fy which are way more costly..

But overall.. yea, it's as equally wasteful an expense as any other unhealthy obsession.

It's true, but it does seem that keyboard stuff does hold it's value relatively well.  I did some quick mental math awhile back and figured I would end up a couple hundred dollars ahead if I had to liquidate my stuff for an emergency, but that's mainly because I won a Duck Eagle from my bb demik ;)

I think there are a couple of levels..

$5000  easy pill to swallow

$10,000  Ok, I might have a problem

$15,000  I've got a headache

$20,000  There's no turning back

$30,000  No honey, I didn't buy another keyboard

$40,000  Sorry Jimmy, you can't got to space camp this summer, or college

$50,000  Where's Tp4's Ramen diet thread.. It's all ramen from here on out..

$65,000  I think I'mma gonna buy some scratch cards today

$65,000 + 5000 scratch cards,     //Cry  Cry  Cry

$100,000   Oh, no problem , almost forgot I'm a millionaire.

well, $5000 today, would be alot.. but if you spread $5000 over the many keyboards you'd buy, it's not so bad since it wouldn't be all at once.. it'd be like 100, 100, 200, 400, 500, 100, 50, 50, 100

That's not so bad.

Which confirms WHY he has an Ergodox, when the tears roll off of his face, they won't hit his keyboard so he can continue to Internet. :)

(get it? like the ergodox is split, yea, ok...that was bad)
